If your cervix is still closed they will give you cervidal to help soften it, that stays in for 12 hrs and it sucks. The contractions with it suck. Than they start pitocin and well you just wait!!

Depends.

Usually, cervadil and IV through the night, pitocin in the AM.

That is up to your doctor. Since you are thin, you might not.

i had the cerivcal insert
then the pitocin

OP it does sometimes take WAY longer than labor, and doesnt always work, and is WAY more painful
so avoid one if possible

i had two for the same baby 70 hours in total, ending in a c section and a baby in the nicu

I was fully effaced and 4cm dilated so they just started me ona very low dose of pitocin. every half hour they bumped it up a bit, then after 1 hour my midwife broke my water. It was wonderful. If they start you on a low dose of pitocin it feels like real labor, contractions start out slow and easy and build their way up to strong contractions. I was in labor for 5 hours this time and didnt get an epidural which I was thrilled about. You can do it mama. Just ask them if they can start the pitocin on a low dose and see if that can get you going rather than a high dose which will make your contractions unbearable from the start. GL!

I didn't dilate on a high dose. I wasn't induced this time, my water broke on it's own but I was only 3 cm with irregular contractions so I had to have pitocin. I was on the highest dose they could give me for 20 hours (with no epi) and only got to a 6. They went to rush me for a c-section, as soon as they took me off the pitocin I was a 10. They didn't listen when I told them to stop doing the spinal, that she was coming and I needed to push. They laid me down to put the cathater in and couldn't. I pushed her out on the operating table with a spinal lol. But OP I was induced with my first and it was great

I was locked up like Fort Knox when i was induced. (2wk overdue)
Even before my induction i had 3 stripping of the membranes and got nothing.
They did cervadil first, nothing. Started pitocin. Evil poison! They upped it every half hour (i think). But still nothing just sharp back contractions. Had some balloon contraption put up there that inflated with every contraction. Freakiest thing ever. That worked but i eventually got stuck at 4cm. Water was broken. Insane contractions that were my breaking point and got epidural. Worked wonders. But i lost complete control over my left leg. lol. Got stuck at 6cm. I was then told if i dont progress in an hour they we're gonna talk the other "options" (aka c-section). A lovely nurse asked me to lay on my side. Averi finally got the hint! She moved down, i was fully effaced and ready to roll within that hour.
ETA: I think all the drugs put in me made the natural process slow and i can see why they are so quick to jump on the "c-section train". I would op for as little of drugs as possible if i could do it over again.

So i'm with Tantric on this one. Every inducement is different. But in the end you will have a baby! Always a good thing.
