re: Procedure when getting induced?

the pitocin put her into distress, and its known to cause babies to have a bm in utero. It made her have one like multiple times. She aspirated it. And had hypoxia. She was on O2 for a couple weeks

do you seriously believe that dr's save it for just people who need it?? They give it to women for the pure purpose of speeding things up. Also just because someone hits 40 weeks does not mean there is a medical need for an induction. EVERY day doctors induce people for unnecessary reasons

I dont have any control over what doctors do or dont do. That isn't my decision to make regardless.
If there just giving it to any women just make her pop a kid out faster then that's the wrong of the doctor and the medical system.
I like to believe a women hitting her 40 weeks still has her own opinion in whether she wants to be induced or not. But its after that point the doctor has the right to be concerned. There are medical things that can happen while being overdue. I'm sure the doctor has the best interest at heart or he would be a doctor.

Just cause one bad experience happens doesn't mean the whole system is corrupt. They wouldn't continue giving inducements if it was such a bad thing.

you were saying that you like to believe dr's wont put a women in danger for nothing. But inducing them at 40 weeks IS putting them in danger. Have you ever read the side effects of pitocin?

And i stand by what i say. I'm not saying all doctors are saints, cause there are bad ones out there. But the ones that are educated and do there job well, yes i believe they have your best interest at heart and wouldn't harm a person for the sake of it. I'm not a doctor or there for every inducment in this world so i can't say that all inducement are harmful regardless of when there done. I still don't think they would do it as some sick joke or profit.
I don't research pitocin, sorry. Its something i don't personally need to know about. Be it foolish but i have my child, regardless of how it was done. I'm thankful for that much. I see no need to meddle in something i have no control over.

I can see we are merely going to agree to disagree. You have your persoanl expierence and views about inducement and so do i. I hope this discussion enlightened the OP and not made her more nervous then she needs to be.

I am just praying that he will come on his own before the 2nd. I think its rediculous that they want to do this induction because they THINK hes big, (and it isnt even too big, they think hes 8 pounds 10 ounces) and because hes not here today (his due date) come on now!! most babies are never here on there due date. its just rediculous

You can tell them no if you want to. They can't force you to be induced. If they want to have a date scheduled already ask them to push it back till your 42 weeks

be careful with that whole "they think he is big" thing
everyone i know who they thought baby was to big
ended up WAY smaller
try not to kick him out to early

2 days overdue is not as far as you can go

First babies are often late. And the whole "big baby" thing is definitely not a reason to induce as U/S can be off by a good bit. I would not let them use scare tactics like that to get you to go into an induction only a few days after your "due date."
If nothing else, you can refuse the induction and agree to do non-stress tests to give the baby more time to come on its own.
I had a failed induction at 40 wks. 3 days b/c my doctor thought it was the best idea b/c I was "overdue" and I thought he had my best interests in mind. Sadly, they do not always.
