posted 29th Oct
really really don't want to be induced, but I have gestational hypertension and my doc says if I don't go naturally by 39 weeks (sunday) he wants to induce. Any ideas?

Metoo. One day early with Pre-E they induced me. I'd just suck it up and do what's best for baby.

I was induced, but it was my first so I didn't know any different. I mean to me that is what labor feels like, I had nothing to compare it to. Eat spicy food!!

o I will do the induction cause the only way my BP stays down is with bed rest. Just hoping I start labor before then... I have a great doctor and I know he will only choose whats best for baby and me

I was induced on my due date because of chronic hypertension. I was high risk my whole pregnancy and almost had to be delivered at 27 weeks becuase i wasn't dropping below 200/110. I made it to 39 weeks and he scheduled me baecause she hadn't grown from my 34wk scan to my 38wk scan.
I was induced with cervadil & pictocin and had to have a c-section after 26 hours.
It's a pain in the ass most times, but if it's for the safety of the baby it's worth it.
Plus when your bp is already high, it can be very dangerous if you go into labor naturally, and don't know it. After about 15hrs my bp was a baseline of 190/100 (and that was after an epi, which drops yourbp)

Good luck mama!

o my mine's not that bad but it's still up there and Pre e runs in my family so he is worried that will happen to me like it id to my mom, aunt, grandma, etc. Thank you and I love my little girl already and will do whatever is necessary to get her here in my arms safely

It sucks, but once she is here, you will be glad they didn't make you wait an extra day. =) Good luck!

26 hours of labor and you had to have a c-section? OMG, that sucks. After 28 hours, I was pushing that baby out. I didn't care what they told me.

Were you disappointed that you couldn't have a vaginal birth? I know a girl who pushed for 4 hours b/c she said a c-section wasn't really "giving birth" in her opinion. I thought that was kind of weird.

I was in labor for 26hrs and was finally dilated to a 9, so they started setting everything up for me to start pushing, got my legs up, got everyone out of my room, had the nurses ready ect. And when my dr checked me to see if i could start pushing he said i was only at an 8, he thought he just screwed up and thought i was at a 9 before so he waited 15 mins and checked me again and i was at a 7....my cervix was swelling because of the eclampsia, edema & the stress, and it it was swelling on her head, so i had to have an emergency c-section, and they thought she might have had brain damage (luckily today she is a healthy, smart little 10.5 month old) =)
But yes, I was very disappointed, i felt like i missed out on a huge part of her birth. I don't usually say, "when i gave birth to her" i usually say "when she was born"...i actually had some serious depression about it too because i couldnt bf either, so for a while i felt like i was a failure.

Jesus. I didn't realize it could make your cervix swell. That's craziness.

I'm still coming to terms with the fact that I couldn't get Layla to BF. I still read stuff on it all the time.I'm an expert on the facts of BFing, even though I didn't do it for that long. If I ever have another baby, I'm so much more prepared for it. So the failure gave me something good in the end,

I didn't either till it happened!
I couldn't BF because she wouldn't latch, then i got a nasty infection, so i just kinda gave up on it. Because i had a c-section it was hard to hold her comfortably enough to try and BF. I was kinda selfish about it.

was in the same boat as you, OP. I had gestational hypertension, but never devleoped pre-e. I was schedule for induction at 39w 4d. I would go with your doc's advice on this one -- as they can monitor you and baby better fomr the hospital (than laboring at home0.

But the night before my scheduled induction, my water broke....so I got to the hospital a little earlier than planned (still needed the pitocin and still had a 26 hour labor, so it felt like an induction). It was fine!

I was selfish about it too. She was waking up every 2 hours and nursing for an hour at a time. By the time I fell asleep, it was time to start all over again. It was the single most frustrating thing I've ever done.
