BITING HELP

My son is 13 months old now. He has four teeth on the top and bottom. He has been teething recently. But he tries to bite me and others all the time. He will pull himself up holding my leg and just bite the crap out of me.
I say no really firmly and he just laughs and thinks its funny. I try to tell him teeth ar enot for biting (right, like he understands.) ANy advice on how to get him to stop?

constant redirection. plus soap helps some.

Pretend to cry, and try for tears. If your son is somewhat sensitive he should know what it means. If he laughs then that probably wouldn't be the right way but my friend tried this method for her son and she said he never bit her again.

i don't think i would ever put soap in my kid's mouth. though he'd probably like it. he's weird.
I do redirect and he just keeps going over and over.
He has a really bad thing about grabbing peoples' faces too.

i used soap with my son though when he was older. its a baby thing i think.

i8 wouldnt be keen to try soap either but each to there own i guess. My son went through a phase of bating at around 12 or 13 months. Just redirection, redirection, redirection worked for us and he eventually stopped. Maybe some paracetamol or whatever pain meds you use would help his discomfot and stop him needing to bite. Other ideas are fruits like apple cold from the fridge might help.

My daughter bit me and pinched me the other day I just said "you hurt me" and she started to cry, she hasn't done it since

My son is also 13 months (but he has 14 teeth) and has been biting/pinching occassionally since he was about 10 months.
When he does it to me, I tell him "NO" very firmly. I then walk away from him and ignore him. He usually gets upset at being ignored and he will come over to me and be nice and not do it anymore. It seems to be working because he does it ALOT less then before.

Another momma on here told me she flicked her son on the mouth and he never did it again after that.

i haven't flicked him. but i have put my hand over his mouth and said no.
No matter what i do he just laughs.

My son did the same way. We were playing on the couch and he bit me and I put him down on the floor and sternly said "no biting, If you bite mama isn't going to play with you now go to your daddy". Boy he cried like Iabout killedhim, but he's never bitten again   He's such a mama's boy and I guess I hurt his feelings not wanting to play with him. I felt terrible I hurt his feelings but it worked for us.

She has done it when she was even smaller. She didn't have teeth then but you know how hard the gums are though. So it hurt then but she wouldn't understand now she does.
