Food Stamps

Ok so I applied for food stamps and even though im not working (quit in july) they still have to use my income from when i worked this year and she said we may only qualify for $16.00 a month (lol) anyways she sent me the paper work to have my past employres verify and my husbands employer to verify his work and our rent etc. and have to send in alot of paperwork. Question is can I call the food stamp office up and say we want to wait to re apply for benefits until after our baby is born in Janurary? or can I just not turn in the stuff and say forget it?

You can still apply now and when your daughter is born in January they will just raise how much you get.

My SO and i applied for food stamps..we got our card but had to wait like a month before we heard anything and a month before we could even use them(kinda gay)..it all depends on how long they take to process you food stamp application..we only get 21.00

I would call and say you wanna reapply when the baby comes. In GA once you lose your job you can apply and get emergency food stamps. I dont understand why they are basing it off a job you no longer have. And also i would check into that some of those workers just be saying things they act like its coming out of their pockets.

Ya she mentioned we would have to call after she is born to add her but I was just thinking of canceling all together since its such a hassel to get my past employer to get things done and his employer as well for such a little amount..

Ya I think its dumb I havent worked there since July but they're still using it like im still working which makes things look like were making alot more then we are. I mean we make decent money as it is but not as much as when I worked.

Here you still got to provide you pay check stubs from the last time you worked or from any unemployment your bringing in.

Yea that's really dumb how are they counting money that doesn't exist. personally i would wait until you have the baby thats alot to go through for $16 i kno how hard it is to get information from a past job.

you should apply now and when the baby is born they will reevaluate your "need"

I'm in the process of reapplying right now actually and they SHOULD go by your last 6 weeks of income. If you haven't worked since July it should mean nothing. Something is not right.

I'm in Eaton but I was in Ingham originally before I moved last year, I got them in Ingham

Ya I havent worked for awhile. So I dunno why she is saying we have to use that as income. Im supposed to have the papers returned by the 30th of Oct. But maybe I should just call and say we want to re apply. I had to call the detroit office then she said if I get approved they will forward it to a local office.

what do you need to be eligable for food stmaps?

yea i would call them, just so they wouldn't treat as a no show sort of thing.
