Freebirthing

posted 27th Oct
I'm watching a show on FreeBirthing meaning women giving birth at home with no medical intervention. No mid-wife. I personally am all for women giving birth at home but I do think they should at least have a mid-wife on stand by with them in case something were to go wrong. Also, these women do their own prenatal care. What are your opinions on this?

That's how women did it in the past.

How do they do their own prenatal care?

i agree with u... all the more power to them if they wanna have a home birth but at least have some kind of professional in the dang house just in case something goes wrong... they don't have to be in the same room as you but at least have them in the house... i saw what u are watching earlier

I totally agree! Women need prenatal care and I believe they should also have a medical assistant there to help with the birth. I've seen the FreeBirthing shows as well...the women could be putting themselves and their child at risk. I support home birthing but I don't support ignorance.

Well, having babies is the oldest trick in the book.

However, I would never have a baby w/out prenatal care & help from a qualified person during delivery.

When you know what CAN go wrong....it's a miracle that it usually goes right.

nope. & i think everyone that does it is completely fucked in the head.. no need to put your life at risk like that and especially your childs.

so now, i am going to post and run..   i'm sleepy but i thought i'd put my two cents in since i have such a strong opinion on this!

I would be too scared. How would you know if something wasn't right or if the baby was in danger??

From what I've been watching is they will take their own blood pressure. Either use the ones in the store like walmart or buy their own.. Buy dopplers...

To each their own, its illegal in alot of places... i think its to dangerous, after looking back at my birthing process with my son he almost did not make it never would i take chances, and i do not see how they can, but like i said to each their own.i saw one of those shows on DH and this woman tied of the cord with a shoe lace and could not get the placenta out so she had to go to the ER

That's why Freebirthing is punishable by law.
I would absolutely have to have someone there, making sure everything was running smoothly. I would have to know my pregnancy is going good.
