BC question.. HELP, PLEASE!!

posted 27th Oct
First off, I'm on the Depo Provera shot, and every time i get in the shower i loose a rediculas amount of hair. I seriously feel like I'm loosing half of my hair. So, I want to switch my birth control, but i dont want a pill just because i KNOW i will ALWAYS forget. And, i would love to have another baby, but financialy i cant afford another one, so i dont want to take any chances until I can afford it.
I was thinking of maybe using Mirena(sp?) since it lasts 5 years, which would be great for me. But, im worried about what they have to do to get it in there and the side affects? So, my question is.. Have any of you ladies used it, and did you like it?
Secondly, what are other options out there other than the depo shot and Mirena(sp?) that arent a pill??

I loved the NuvaRing and that's what I'm going back on now. My insurance company will pay for Mirena but I'm a little apprehensive after what I've heard about it here.

See i thought about NuvaRing, but personally IMO i'm not really all about trying to shove a ring up my vajay jay. lol But what have you heard about Mirena.
MOstly good or bad?

lol...I got over the inserting and removing part pretty easily. It honestly didn't bother me.

On here....what I've heard about Mirena has been mostly bad. My OB has it herself and she loves it. I have an appt in a few weeks and I'll make my final decision then but I'm mostly sold on going back to the NuvaRing.

My OB said the same thing about her Mirena. So you have no side effects and can't feel the wire?

Thats what i love about the shot, NO PERIODS!! haha.

I have my appointment tomorrow, and i want to discuss it, and im due for my next shot.. But, if i decided to go with Mirena, How do they do it??
Could they do it that day, and could i still go to work right afterwards?

it's a rod they insert into your arm with a needle. it sounds horrible, but its the most effective BC on the market right now and the procedure really doesn't hurt. it lasts 3 years.

yeah i've had it for over a year now and i love it.
i was going to go with mirena or paragard, but i have a bicornuate uterus so i couldn't get either of them, and i'd be too afraid that the device would get stuck inside my body, because they can slip out of place and you won't know it. my friends mom was on an IUD, and she became sterile because it got stuck in her body and they had to do surgery on her to remove it.

They kinda give you a pap but then they open your cervix and like shoot it in. They put iodine on your cervix to prevent infection. It didnt hurt to me and he actually tore my cervix with the clamp. But it didnt hurt. I didnt bleed after, I spotted but nothing really and I had a couple little cramps but nothing bad. Yea I went to work the next day. I had an appt. to get it in but they might do it that day if you ask
