Stripping the membrane

posted 27th Oct
Did this work for anyone? How long did it take? My doctor did mine today in hopes that it would speed things up. I have only been cramping and bleeding since she did it. I am already open 4cm so I am wondering if it will actually work. I never had it done before so I am lost on this one. I am suppose to go in at any sign of pain that last for an hour but I dont think anything is painful enough to rush in. So I am waiting for a big sign.

I think that it is different for everyone. Some women have their membranes stripped a couple of times before they start labor

I had mine done on a wed and she was born that followin monday. I think that it only works when you are making some sort of progresssion. Like if your cervix ist dilatd at all, then it takes some time.

My manager from work was telling me she had that done with her second child and with the help of a lot of walking she was in labor that very same night. I dont have a personal experience with it bc Ive never had a child. How is it going for you?

Can they strip your membrane if you are not dilated at all and still completely closed?

I had it done twice. The first time I spotted and cramped bit but nothing else happened. The second time i spotted ALOT more and lost my mucous plug in pieces and went into labor the next morning.

I am already open 4cm so hopefully this helps me actually feel the contractions. The contractions I have are not painful so I dot think or pay attention to them. But I am suppose to go in for any pains I have that have been going on for an hour. But I can not time them because they are so sparatic. I hope this does something. I am worried that I will have this baby in my house or car. WIth my other children I did not feel the contractions either but I wasnt dilated no more than 2cm when I was admitted. This is so frustrating!

With me, I had mine stripped after being 1 cm for over a month. She stretched me to 2 cm and told me I was completely effaced. I went into labor less than 24 hours later.
