pain medication..

posted 27th Oct
I'm having a c-section on Thursday (yay!!) & I was wondering what pain medication they give you after the c-section. Does it vary or is the same medication used universally?

Also, any tips from mama's who have had a c-section?? I'm super nervous about it, I've never had surgery before. Anything in particular I need to take to the hospital?

TIA!

Morphine for the first few hours, percocet following that, for me.

My c-section was fine. I still regret and hate myself for not attempting a vaginal birth, though.

I've got no choice. And I never said I was excited about having surgery.. I said I was nervous. I'm excited to have my daughter.

i had to have a c-section because my LO flipped breech the day i went into labor.

I was really nervous at first. We attempted to turn the baby so they gave me an epidural. After i got the epidural, i was super relaxed. Even during my c-section, i was trying to joke around with my husband. It really wasn't that bad! I didn't feel any pain, it just felt like they were touching my belly.

My advice is to take it easy after you have your c-section. Seriously!! I didn't take it very easy and i don't if was because i didn't or if it was inevitable, but i got a bacterial infection and ended up in the ER two weeks later. No fun.

And for meds, i was given percocet. They sent me home with Oxycodone (which i think is the same as percocet).

I'll def. take it easy! thanks for the heads up. && for the other info! i appreciate it.
