re: getting induced!!! scared.

it depends on the hospital. my hospital wouldnt let me get the epi until i was dilated to a 4, induction or not. induced labor is definitely not faster than natural labor. it can actually take longer and end in c section more so than a natural labor can.

This is just my opinion, but it seems that your Dr. just wants a "scheduled" birth. I would oppose it, if I were you, but that's just me.

I asked my OB about that too, and she said if the due date is right with the way the baby was measuring during ultrasounds, you should be right on track. Some babies just have lower birth weights. My aunt had major problems because her doctor let her go way overdue, and after all that and my cousin still has problems..I wouldn't want to go past 5 MAYBE 7 days past my due date.

oh and also, about 3 or 4 weeks ago i was having horrible period-like cramps (i would assume BH) and was told to go to L&D and the nurse told me she could stretch me to a two and then at last weeks appointment my doctor couldnt see me and the woman who checked me said i was a one but when my actual doctor checked me today she said my cervix was basically closed but i was 'technically' a one. does any of that make sense? cause i didnt think you could close after being dilated.

VERY true. Alot of doctors what to induce so it works with their schedule. That is definitely the wrong reason to induce!

ALL doctors/nurses have different numbers.
A doctor could check you, say your a 3. A nurse could come in, and the doctors 3cm could be the nurses 2cm and so on. They even told my sister that while she was in labor, so the same nurse tried to check her everytime she needed it so they knew if she was progressing or not.

wow i didnt think they could do that. i have to go in to L&D tomarrow to get a stress test (did i say that right?) done so i'll talk to soemone about it then.

yeah im pretty sure thats why y doc induced me. im kinda glad though bc he was able to deliver my son instead of someone i had never met before.

lol okay i was like wtf is going on.

im still probably going to still go through with the induction because i dont really see how it's going to harm anything just let me meet him sooner =] but i'll still talk with someone.

A NST? Non-stress test?

If you dont feel comfortable getting induced, let them know. It is your choice, afterall. If you think you could wait a bit longer to go into labor naturally, do what your gut tells you to do!

yupp that's what i meant. and i'm comfortable with it seeing as how im going to be 40+ weeks. if i wasn't i would have not been nearly as comfortable with the decision.
