Bfeding a toddler (over 12 months old)

I have a few questions for the moms of toddlers that are still nursing  

First for those that are still ebfeding...
How old are they?
How many times a day do they nurse?How long?
When do they nurse? Like after or before meals, etc.
Do they still comfort nurse? Likeif they are sleepy, etc.
When are you planning of introducing milk?

For those that are bfeding as well as givingother milk (soy, goat, cow, etc)...
How old are they?

When do they get their other milk?
Do they comfort nurse still?
When did you introduce milk?

How long do you plan on bf'ing? I think it's awesome that you're continuing to bf over a year.

I don't know how "normal" Amelie is, and I'm curious to see other momma's responses too....


How old are they? 14 1/2 months
How many times a day do they nurse? Every few hours How long? ranges from a few minutes to 15
When do they nurse? you name it, for a snack before breakfast after breakfast, same for lunch and dinner, when she's tired, when she gets a booboo, etc.
Do they still comfort nurse? yes
When are you planning of introducing milk? we have tried and she has no interest in cow's milk unless it has ovaltine in it. So she's only had cows milk a handful of times. As long as she is nursing often, I'm not going to push it too hard.

I'm still breastfeeding. Miika's 14 and a half months old. She bf in the morning when she wakes up, I nurse her to bed at night and before naps. I'd say I bf her like 4 other times a day besides those times. She does drink whole milk from her sippie, I started her when she was 12 n a half months old. She took to it right away. She drinks it when she eats her meals and I keep the cup full in case she wants to drink it any other time. She won't take it when she is falling asleep or comfort nurses. I hope that helps!

I am no longer nursing but my daughter nursed for 17 mos so I thought I would answer.

How old are they? She stoped at 17 mos
How often dothey nurse still?How long? Andwhen? From 12 mos to 14 mos she would nurse in the morning, about an hour before bed and at 3 am. At 14 mos she only nursed at 3 am untill 17 mos.
When do they get their other milk? all 3 meals a day and then if she asked for it anyother time.
Do they comfort nurse still? She did untill 17 mos at 3 am
When did you introduce milk? 11.5 mos. Her doctor said it was fine to start it a little at a time then.

My husband was breast fed til he was 5 mainly as a comfort thing bcuz his dad died when he was 4 would any of you bf that long?

When do they nurse? sometimes during the night he wakes to nurse, right before waking up in the morning, before a nap and before bed.

Do they still comfort nurse? Yes, I think that it mostly is... comfort nursing.
When are you planning of introducing milk? I did right when he turned 1 but he did not like it, it took several tries and he finally started liking it around 15 months? not sure...

I REALLY want to stop soon... he is VERY demanding and gets pissed when I can't nurse him when he wants. Some days he will nurse for about half hour and when I think he is asleep, and try to unlatch, he freaks out and latches on tighter , throws his arms around me and legs and makes me lay there! I want to stop before he is 2. I want my boobs back.

Evan nurses like that too. Whenever he wants! LOL!

We haven't started or even tried milk yet. Hey, they are getting momma milk

I introduced milk with Zach (my oldest son) at 11 months old. He was on formula by then though. He self-weaned at 9 months old when I got pregnant again. He didn't like the change in my milk

I would probably say no. haha. I would prefer that he isn't nursing by the time he starts preschool (3-4). I don't see anything wrong with others doing it though

He sounds like Evan!! Thankfully, Evan doesn't have to nurse to sleep or until he is drowsy though. When Evan wants bewbies, he wants it NOW and he goes for them   haha!

Hopefully you get your bewbies back soon!!

I hope to nurse my next one until about 2. Cam (my 7 month old) is the only one that I haven't been able to nurse. He has a very severe milk allergy. He was projectile vomiting all the time until we found out at 6 weeks that it was because of the allergy.

BTW I am happy to see that alot of the toddlers are still comfort nursing sometimes   My MIL said it is silly to let him nurse if he isn't "drinking" milk   She wanted me to stop a LONG time ago though. Like when he was like 6 months old!
