RSV Shot...

My son was born at 34w5d and after his stay at the NICU they advised us to get his RSV shots once the season starts..I have not had a chance to talk to my Pedi since he was out of the office, after speakink to the nurses they mentioned that the RSV shot has been out of stock for them. My question to the mommies of premies is have you ever heard of the shot being out of stock and have you ever heard of premies not getting the shot and getting by well threw the season?...and what was your experience with the rsv shot if you had your LO get it?

i didnt know they has an RSV shot and the Dr office should keep enough i cant beleive theyd be out of it.

My son got the shot, my daughter hasnt. He also didnt get sick, while my daughter is just getting over an ear infection and a terrible cold. If i were you i'd get it.

Oh, they're out of it... i didnt see that. How do they not have enough? Preemies are supposed to be top priority when it comes to RSV shots... Thats messed up.

my daughter was a 27 weeker and she got all her R.S.V. shots last year she was good until two months after her last does she got R.S.V and than got namonia on top of that i strongly reccamend that you do get it for her its important

How old is your daughter, was she was a premie also?..I know I want to get the shot, atleast for this first year(because I heard its hard for insurance to aprrove the second year)..and especially because just today I started with mild cold like symptons. My Pedi should be in today after three so I will call him to make sure I get some type of reference or something if they are in deed out of the shot..thats good to hear that your son didnt get sick also.

Im sorry to hear that..=<...it must of been horrible...I hated seeing my son in the NICU because i felt helpless and I know that getting him this shot increases my chances of keeping him healthier and not feeling like I did..Thank you, I will continue to try and get this shot asap..because the season starts in Nov here..and its only a matter of days now..

yeah it okay shes alittle fighter and my little angle baby shes gotten so big and shes strong we had a nicu stay of 63 days we didnt leave her side i would jsut try really hard to get the shot it was horrible when my princess came down with RSV she was hospitalized for 8 days and still came home on oxgyn

My little girl was born at 29 weeks. She got her first dose of synagis this past week. They recommend it for babied born 35 weeks and before. I recommed you get them. RSV can be bad for term babies but deadly for preemies.

Anything can be out of stock. And especially this season with everyone panicking. I have a 28 weeker and a 30 weeker. Neither ever got RSV shots. If don't have other risk factors, I wouldn't stress it too much. My kids have been very healthy. Healthier than most kids - preemie or otherwise.

My son got his shot a couple weeks ago. That sucks that they are out of stock. Where I go, they only give them to premies. My sister had her son at full term and he got RSV and almost died from it and it was horrible to see him like that.

my daughter gets her rsv tomorrow, and this is her second season. I have never heard of it being out of stock. There is however certain criteria you baby has to meet to get it. And in arkansas they have to be approved for the shot.

My twins were born at 31 weeksand have a pedi at one of the best hospitals in michigan- your doctor might not be "out" of the shot but like mine they order it for each patient. So I asked about it a month ago and they had to order it for my twins. Then they will have it every month until the season ends. My insurance isnt going to cover it, Im considering seeing how much it is through the community health places.

So my son's pedi is in and I went in today to speak to him personaly...because the bitch ass nurses where giving me a bunch of bullshit..Thank you ladies for your knowledge...His Pedi will be ordering the shots now and everything has been cleared... Fucking nurses sometime swear they are the doctors and they know it all...a little vent ans update..lol..
