A question about Religion. (Poll)

posted 24th Oct
So my SO just told me he wants to go to church tomorrow. I told him he could go, but I wouldn't be going because I'm not Mormon. He told me that our daughter will be. I told him she wouldn't. In my experience, the kids take the mother's religion, at least if she's the one practicing. Ben hasn't been to church in YEARS, also, he smokes, drinks, and cusses. Those are things that I know are not ok if you are Mormon. I have nothing against being a Mormon, I'm a Christian (non-denominational) and I know they are similar. I just don't think he should push for our daughter to be one religion using the "do as I say, not as I do" excuse. Am I wrong?

Sounds like something you all should have talked about before the night before....
Do you go to church?

I think the child should be taught about both and when older they can choose.

I do. Not every Sunday, but I've been really involved with my church since I was 13. My old pastor is one of my closest friends. The thing is, he can't go tomorrow anyway. It doesn't start until 1, and it's 3 hours long. Our babys shower is tomorrow at 2. I swear he was just trying to get a reaction out of me.

That's what I said, but not if he's not even comitted. If religion is THAT important to him, shouldn't he be practicing correctly before he tries to show someone else?

I'm a Catholic Wiccan...the SO is Jehovah's Witness....the kids will learn about both when they are old enough and decide for themselves. They coulld be buddhist if they wanted to..just as long it's what THEY want and choose for themselves.

i think the child should be taught about ALL religions and beliefs even if the parent doesn't agree with them and then the child desides.

I agree that they should be exposed to both religions and make their own choices

FYI: THey are not similar. They dont even worship the same god. Jesus Christ of Latter day saints (Mormons) are not christian. Actually its a very different religion (compared to christianity). Google it. "mormons and John Smith"Kinda creepy if you ask me.

Through my church, we learned about ALL religions. I don't plan on pushing any one on her, I just feel like if he were the one teaching her about being Mormon she would learn all wrong. Like, a baseball coach tryng to teach you math.

I'm not against her being Mormon or any other religion, I just feel like she should learn about all of them the right way, not from someone who know's how he is supposed to act but doesn't.
