has anyone went thru this?

posted 24th Oct
My son was born Oct. 20th at 36 weeks. They took him to the NICU because my hospital considered him a preemie & because my water was broke for 43 hours before he was born. They found out that he was having spells where his oxidation levels would lower for a minute until someone rubbed him while he was asleep... has this happened to anyone else?

I've never expierianced this but I've heard of babies having to have stimulation while they slept to regulate their breathing

Sounds very similar to mine. Kacey was born at 36 weeks, my water broke and she was born via c section 42 hours later because she wasn't able to fit through the birth canal even as small as she was. She also went to the NICU. The breathing may be because when he's asleep he relaxes so much, so rubbing his back or what not stirs him a bit. My daughter didn't have that issue though, just trying to give some ideas. What did the doctors say?

He might just be so relaxed when he sleepsthe caffine would keep him more alert... Idk You could probably find info on it somewhere though

My daughter was on caffeine for 2 weeks. She was able to come home off of it but she had to have an apnea monitor for 3 months.

She was born at 38 weeks but her gestational size was 37 weeks. She had trouble maintaining her body temp and had a lot of apnea episodes.
