Swine Flu? Seriously?

posted 23rd Oct
My 3 m.o.daughter came home from the Ronald McDonald House with a slight head cold. It's gotten worse but nothing they even want to see her for because of the risk of exposure to something worse at the peds. My 3 m.o. son is now breathing raspy and is a bit stuffy. Again, it's noticible but not too bad. They have no fever. However, my 3 y.o. woke up today with a really bad runny nose. He then took a really long nap and woke up with sick eyes, a cough, and a worse runny nose. Now obviously something is going through my house. My husband is freaking out that it's the swine flu my 3 y.o. has and is making him stay in the living room because it's the one room we don't bring the babies into because there is still a rug. I get my 3 y.o. has worse/ more severe symptoms then the twins. But, a cold/flu/virus whatever can effect people differently and still be the same thing. I don't feel that it's worth the rsk of taking my 3 y.o. in and exposing him to god knows what then bringing him back home unless it turns really severe. He doesn't have a fever either. What do you think ladies? TIA xoxoxoxoxoxo

several moms have posted that their LOs were diagnosed with swine flu and had no fever. i would take the 3 yo to the doc and see what they say about him before exposing the babies to a docs office. they are more vulnerable.

but OP: there is a swine flu post in FFA and it gives a LOT of info about colds vs flu symptoms. And pretty much just sounds like your kids have a cold.

At my doctor's office, I call ahead and say "hey, I'm bringing my high risk kid in" and they have a sterile room waiting for me when I get there, so my kids can get the treatment they need without risking getting something worse while trying to get the help we need. I would suggest you do this. You'll decide it's safer to wait and then your preemies will get RSV or something...

Thank you for that. Since my lovely husband has been swine flu obsessed for awhile I think I shall print it and staple it to his forehead
