adoption after kids

We have 5 kids. 18 months to 11 years. I love em all. They are my life.My husband would like maybe one more. It's not that I don't. I just fear having another child. (we almost lost my sweet baby....long story) So what do you think of adopting? Would I even be eligible? I mean having 5 kids is a lotso wouldI even beconsidered. I don't want a brand new baby. I want the children thatare in foster care. The ones that have just about given up hope on having a family.I just keep thinking that I may be the one change in a child's life, I may be the one that loves them more than myself.My lovecould make a world of difference to a child. That's what I want. Imyself am one of those kids from the foster care system. I was adopted when I was 8. So I get what the poor kids are going through.

So back to the original topic.Is it possible for us to adopt while already having a large family?Am I selfish for wanting to? There are a lot of families that want a child....what makes me think I am so special that I should getone? What do you think ladies?

I think its a great idea. You will definitley be aloud to. There are so many unwanted children in foster care that need homes and you really could give them a new chance in life.

If you want a child in foster care you have a great chance. Most OTHER people are selfish and want new babies and aren't willing to take the kids that are 3-4 + and even higher. If you were willing to do that, it'd be a miracle for those children that get 'left behind' because they aren't newborns.

Well, you could go ahead and start now. It takes 6 months to 2 years for it to happen.

yes, as long as the social worker approves that your home is fit for foster/adopt then the state will allow you to do so. However, since you have all ages you may have trouble getting approved for certain age brackets. For instance, our youngest is 2, so our social worker only advises adopting an infant so as not to mess up the birth order or impact the other children with an abused youth coming in with baggage.
