Its out of a personal trainers scope of practice to advise a client on exactly what they should eat. It wouldnt be out of his scope of practice to tell you that you need protein post work out though. He just cant meal plan you but he can give you ideas on healthy items for you to consume. Only a registered nutritionist/dietician can actually meal plan for you.
Post workout you definitely need protein but its actually important to restore your carbs as well. You burn off your glycogen stores when you work out (which is a good thing, you wanna get through the stores and get to that fat!) but its important to have some carbs post workout as well, to properly refuel.
Go for an iso-whey protien shake and then a fast digesting carb, such as a piece of fruit or a couple of organic, whole wheat rice cakes with sugar free jam or a natural nut butter.
