are you as paranoid as me about h1n1 in schools?

my son is 10 and in 4th grade and i am freaking out cause there were cases in other schools around here not as his that i know of yet but i am totally freaking

No, I'm not concerned.

No. But we haven't had any cases around us. I am still not getting her vaccinated.

I don't want her sick, but I am not going to spend my life worrying about it. I teach her good hand hygiene and not to share. And hope that others do the same.

I'm a teacher w/a 10 mth old and I'm not really concerned.

im not getting the vaccine either ...its to new and i dont know if it is worse to get it or to not

nope, I'm about as concerned with that as I am with the regular flu.
If they catch it, they catch it. None of my kids have compromised immune systems or lung problems so if nothing else, they'll feel crappy for a few days then be back to normal.

I am. we are having the highest numbers of child death in my area. every school is affected including my daughters'. I had my two oldest and myself vaccinated last week when they came out.

Nope.
I personally know at least ten people who have had swine flu and recovered JUST fine, the same as any other flu.
No big deal.
Wash your hands. take your vitamins, eat a healthy diet... you will be fine even if you catch it.

I'm starting to get a little concerned because we have had 11 confirmed cases in my little town alone. ALL 11 cases have been in her school, 3 in her grade. They shut her school down last week because out of 400 students, 234 were out sick. She was one of them that got really sick. Don't know if it was H1N1 with her though.

eta: the 2 deaths we have had around here were normal otherwise healthy children.

I had to stop working this week. I'm a teacher, but when I wasn't working, I wasn't really freaking out about it. Chances are he'll be just fine if he even gets it. We really stress hand washing at our school. We always make all the kids wash their hands before snack and lunch, and have talked to them about the importance of good health habits. A few of the kids (fourth graders) even have little hand sanitizers in their desks that they use at random times. Our school is also making any kid with the flu stay home another day after flu-like symptoms end. Talk to your son about washing his hands and all that, be proactive if he does get sick, and hope that he doesn't get sick.
