My mom put soap in our mouth, if my son was doing that I would flip, he would never even dream of talking to me that way, if he raises his voice to me his butt is in the corner, I would say ok to the soap.

I think it's fine, my mom did it. I think teachig your child to be a foul mouthed delqueint is every bit as muchchild abuse.

My mom washed my mouth out with soap once as a small child.
And only once, because I had an unanticipated bad reaction to one of the ingredients in the soap.
After cleaning up my vomit and bile and listening to me cry all day and seeing how sick I got,she never did it again.
So I have an aversion to using that as discipline.I also find it humiliating for the kid.But you are the mom,and you need to parent how you see fit.And no,I don't think it makes you a bad mom.
Be careful,though.Just because something says "non-toxic" doesn't mean it should be swallowed.
