i think there are also some kind of inserts you can put in the diaper for extra absorbency.

i had the same problem try night time diapers like pampers baby dry and go up a size

I think he would rather have a little extra padding on than be woken up out of his sleep to a cold diaper change (which he hates and screams for every diaper change he's had since birth) so I figure if its not bothering him why not just try to improve the situation in the least disturbing way possible. Imo I suppose
