ur opinion on H1N1 vaccine....

so i know there have prolly been plenty of posts about the H1N1 vaccine...but im still wanting to know what u ladies think. so lemme start off saying please do not respond to this post if it irritates u or if u are sick of hearing about the H1N1. if it bothers u then DONT RESPOND! thanks....

...now to the ladies that are willing to help me: im going back to work on monday. my LO will be 10 weeks old so of course he really has no protection from any flu. welllllll....i just got an email from my supervisor saying that my job will be getting the H1N1 vaccine (i work in a doctors office) for employees. do u think i should get it? LO's dr really wants me to get it since im breastfeeding he will get some antibodies once my body starts to produce them. i dont have a PCP (cause im never sick!) really to ask their opinion on it. what have ur docs told u about the vaccine? does it have mercury or does it not have mercury in it?i know i dont want the nosal spray b/c that has the live virus in it and could potentially expose LO to it. the only reason why im even considering getting the vaccine is cause my baby will be in daycare around a few other children. i trust my babysitter...but other kids parents may not be as cautious as u may be! this is what freaks me out about daycare...especially since my baby is so young. there is nothing to actually treat him if he does get the flu!

any opinons and/or advice u may have is very helpful on this topic. thank u in advance for your help!

Nasal sprays are cheaper, thats why they are around.

I got the H1N1, I'm alive and well.

My LO won't be getting it, he rarely goes anywhere or sees any kid.

I wouldn't but that's just me.

Thimerasol is contained in the multidose vials and not in single dose vials, ask which one they have. Did you get the Seasonal Flu shot?
My family will not be getting the vaccine. Good luck with your decision.

so is Thimerasol mercury?

my job also offers the reg flu shot...i will get that when i go back on monday definitely!

I know it is contriversial, but we always get a flu shot, and it would have been in the seasonal flu vaccine if it had been around earlier, so I'm going to get it. Not the inhaled version though. When the injectable form is available to my kids I will get it for them.

I was on the fence about it for a long time, and if some horrible side effect shows up by the end of Nov when it will be available here I'll change my mind...But H1N1 has killed in the months of Sept and Oct more children than seasonal flu does in an entire season, and I get them the seasonal flu vax, so it doesn't make sense to me to skip it. I got a mercury free flu vax because I'm breastfeeding, but I'll have to ask if there is a mercury free h1n1 vax for children under 3 too, because I'm not sure about that.

im not too worried about H1N1.. .i dont think im gonna vaccinate her unless her pedi insits.... but im prego and NOT getting it. i wish there was more information about the vaccine and prego women but i dont feel comfertable getting it...
i will stick to washing hands and using lots of disfectant

I recently read that in Canada, people that received the Seasonal shot were more liable to contract H1N1

I'm getting myself and my 15 month old vaccinated.. I have been told by my doctor that it is not actually a new vaccine.. that it's the flu shot with an added H1N1 strain... and there hasn't been any serious side effects from it... I wasn't going to get it at first because I thought it was a really new vaccination and I was afraid something might happen to me and my son but now I have been reassured by my DR and I am totally for it. Just ask for the shot without that chemical that causes Autism I can't remember the name.. and your LO should be fine ..

Yup, they're saying that anyone (not just Canadians) that got the seasonal flu shot last year is 50% more likely to catch H1N1. I've been around several cases of it, had my flu shot last year and so far I haven't caught anything worse than a mild cold and a stomach flu.

To the OP: I'm not getting the H1N1 vaccine and I work in a doctor's office as well. I'd rather not be a guinea pig and I refuse to get any vaccines unless they have some idea of the long term effects it will have on my daughter. She's obviously not here yet, but I wouldn't give it to her even if she was.

Vaccines are made in a completely different way now, and that was a different virus. This vaccine is not the "new version" of that vaccine in any way shape or form.

It's very similiar in that it was developed quickly and released without extensive testing and they are both for the Swine Flu. Yes, the virus is slightly different.
