i still check my 4 year old at night. my son gets checked throughout the night if i wake up. i was a wreck with my daughter to the point where she wasn't able to be put down when sleeping b/c i thought that would somehow prevent it.

I just go in to give her kisses <3 Then I rub Aubrey's cheek since I can't reach her to give her kisses. hehe.

I am insane about it...lol..She sleeps in her pack and play next to me so I can see her and touch her as soon as I wake up. And I wake up about every 2 hours to touch her. She sleeps in footed pj's on a sheet..no blankets or toys. The room is cool and I have a fan that keeps air circulating. I know I do everything reccomended...but I am still terrified.

Im paranoid with both my kids still. I am always going to check on them to make sure they are breathing. I always think that when I least expect it, something will happen.

I never feared SIDS. I know that kids that die of sids have a under developed part of their brains. You can't really prevent sids other than keeping blankets away from the face. I know that if any of my children were to pass from it (they can't at this point) It would have been meant to be and there wouldn't have been anything I could have done about it. I don't let myself freak out about things I can't prevent. It only makes you an over protective basket case.

I'm worried about it to a point, I worry more when i'm watching someone elses child//baby overnight, I would never forgive myself if their child died at my house..ahh.

But they do make those mattress alarm things that if there's no movement for 20 seconds it goes off, a woman that took her child to the daycare I worked at swears on them

I was completly terrified of SIDS when we first brought our son home. I actually slept in the recliner with him on my chest for the first wk or so. I think it worries every mommy (and daddy), just remember that a baby's risk of SIDS decreases after the first 3months, unfortunately it is more common in boys then girls, once your LO starts moving around alot while they sleep their chances are also greatly decreased. If you are still worried ask your dr about it. They will hopefully be able to help put your mind at ease. (and I agree with theother mommy, Stop reading articles about it!! your just going to drive yourself crazy!! LOL)

Quoting Daddy's Little Girl:“ does anyone else worry about this?...i dunno..im more worried about sids happening to my daughter, than ... [snip!] ... stories about sids....im going insane...i will stand over her for an hour just watching her breath.......im scared

I just brought my son home from the hospital, and he's so tiny.. Not to mention my last pregnancy ended at 25 weeks (stillborn) so i've been a nervous wreck ever since i found out i was pregnant.. ... I wasn't really worried about sids until the nurses started filling me in on all these horror stories and she kept stressing it to me, and then my boyfriend got really scared as well, and we both are nervous wrecks, we take turns sleeping for 8 hours each and when one is sleeping, the other is keepin an eye on the baby... It does seem obsessive, but as time goes by (it's only been 6 days or so) i'tm starting to take short naps, and leave the room for awhile, and just come back and check every now and then... but i am getting that monitor with the alarm... It happens to a lot of parents, don't feel crazy or weird... Just stay away from these scary stories, and try to remember your babies life is just like all of ours, and if we sit there worried sick, we'll waste a lot of time and energy that could be spent being happy and enjoying there time with us.
