Being induced.. whats it like?

To all the moms out there that have been enduced what is it like? What do they generally do..my dr said he doubets he will use the cevidil jell more then likly it will be IV petocin... I was at 1cm last thursday and he streached me out to 2cm... and did the membranes... lost my plug on saturday.. and nothing since... Im getting enduced this saturday morning at 9am... big baylor dallas texas... im just super nervouse... with my son 5 years ago i had the gel... and 12 hours later my water broke at home and everything went okay... just nervouse do they give you pain medication like demerol or stadol or anything when they induce like this or do i have to wait till im a 5cm for my epi? lol help... guess its normal at this stage to me nervouse.lol

I had to wait until I was a 4 for my epi. Everything went really smoothly. Good luck to you!

i'm getting induced monday at 6 am....
all i really know is they will start me on a low amount of pitocin, in hopes it will "trigger" labor. she told me they didn't want to use any cervical stuff because i already had a c-section.

i got the cervidil , waited 12 hours then got the picotin. whatever they gave me before the epi did not help at all. i got the epi when i was like 5 cm i believe..but most of my hard labor i went through without any meds..its really not that bad though..goood luck!

My induction was really long, went in Tuesday afternoon and he was born Thursday morning. They gave me some pain meds through the IV because I didn't want the epi yet, but I don't remember what it was. Made me feel drunk and then sick.

I got my epi before I was even in pain. But the anesthesiologist was going to be tied for 3 or 4 hours. I came to the hospital at9 am. My pitocin was started at 9:20 am, got my epi at 11:30 am, started pushing around 4:45 pm, and had him at 5:38 pm. My second induction was 10,000 times better than my first. My first, the pitocin was started full force and my epi made me COMPLETELY numb. Second time, pitocin was started out on smallest dose...two hours into it I was hardly feeling anything. Epi made me numb but I could still move my legs.

Fentanyl? That's what I got with my first, before the epi.

i wasnt technically induced, but i was givin petocin. but i got my epi within the first hour, so i felt nothing. they said my contractions were off the charts but i was lucky that the epi worked really well. my baby at one point no longer was liking the petocin so she started freaking out so they stopped it for awhile. i was on petocin for 14 hours just to never go past 8cm and ended in a c-sec  

Iwas induced, I went in at like 11pm at night,they gave me cervidil then in the morning my doc came and checked me, then he broke my water, I had the option of getting the epi immediately, so I said yea, why not lol and thank god i did! then they started the pitocin but the pitocin was making my body contract too hard and too fast to they turned it off. So basically after my doc broke my water my body did what it had to do and by 5:45 pm my prince was born   It went soo smoothly I wouldn't have any problem being induced with the next onen if I have to   GOod luck to you and *easy labor dust*

You had a good one! After my 12 hours on cervidil, the on-call doctor wanted to see what my body did "on its own" so for 5 hours, nothing happened. He just didn't want to break my water while he was there. 5 hours later when he got off duty and the night doctor came on, they broke my water and I dilated way fast and in a couple hours the baby was born. I hope if I'm induced with this baby it goes more like yours!

omgosh I woulda been like BREAK MY WATER NOW lol i'm kidding, but maybe all that waiting got your body all warmed up. I couldn't believe how easy my labor went, the hardest part about it was the pushing, I was soo frustrated,I thought to myself (b/c there were like 6 other babies in the nursery) if those bitches can pushout those babies, so can I! lol and not much later my son made his grand entrance   Well good luck to you and *easy labor dust*

Well . . . I went in saturday the 24th at 9am to be induced . . Her head had not dropped so the Jell would not work and I was only at 2cm so they did Petocin iv . . After 4 hours I was at 4cm so they offered me a Epidural which I took and broke my water . . . However 6 hours later I was still at a 4cm . . Her heart rate started acting up so I was given Effedrine or something close to that for my blood pressure and oxygen . . Her heart rate dropped to 60 I was rushed to emergency c section . . Her cord was wrapped around her Neck and shoulder strangling her with every contraction and around her shoulder it would not let her drop down . At 945pm 13 hours after being induced I had a beautiful baby girl . . Although not the way I wanted it I did not want a c section but now that I see her I would do anything for her . Congrats!! I'm glad everything turned out okay...how scary!
