Cough Remedies. Help!

So both my my kiddos and I have horrible coughs, My oldest and I have had some tea with honey and it only helped a little and only while we were drinking the tea. Do any of you mamas have a home remedy for harsh coughing? We are choking up lungs here.

Put Vicks on the soles of your feet and put socks on. Supposedly that's supposed to help a lot. I've never done it though.

No home remedies here except tea w honey. my coughs get so bad I usually have to get cough syrup with codiene

Its supposed to draw your bodies toxins out. i did it... didnt work 4 me

My aunt does it to her grandkids allll the time, she swears by it... I've never tried it myself but maybe next time...

put vicks on your feet. it really seems to help my LO

i have done that before it didnt work for me tho   but it did work for the hubby maybe everybody is different?

Boil water
pour cup
add a spoonful of Peppermint extract.
Enjoy sipping it slowly & inhaling it while doing so.

I wish I had some vicks and I dont have any zinc. I guess it will need to wait till morning

that I do have! will it burn our throats?

Not unless you use a lot, & even then I'm not sure?
For the kids especially you might also wanna add sugar.
I'll often toss it in a plain cup of tea aswell, but it usually doesn't react well with Milk, & I like Milk/cream in my tea.

My nana just gave me an old home remedie for a cough syrup a couple of months ago. I havent had the chance to try it yet but nanas know lots  
2 teaspoons honey
2 teaspoons glycerine
2 teaspoons olive oil
lil boiling water just to blend
squeeze a lemon or orange into it
Just stir b4 giving it to them, and you can give them a spoonful when they need it.
Its up to you, you dont have to try it, just thought I would post it, may help

I am up for anything! right now I am sipping on peppermint tea it is helping my daughter did not like it but finally went to sleep. I just coughed up more phlegm than Achmed the dead terrorist!

Aww thats no good at all. if you get really congested having a steamy shower helps too. or fill up a bowl of boiling water put a towel over your head and inhale. it will help ur chest and nose.
