This may not be the right place for this exactly, but I feel it is, personally.

I just would really like everyone to keep my family in their prayers and thoughts. My husband, Richard, has severe asthma and has been intubated three times, twice in the course of our marriage and all within a seven year time span. He's having an extremely difficult time and his lungs are worsening by the year.

He is in the hospital right now, having come down with just a touch of pneumonia. He's been there for almost a full four days now and only seems to be slightly improving. His O2 is still exceptionally low while having oxygen on, staying only at around 92. He is really scared and so am I. We don't know what is going on and the doctor assigned to him through the hospital is treating him as he would any other asthma patient, when that simply is not the case with him. They keep doping him up more and more on steroids without giving him his regular daily medications.

I just don't know what to do. I've come so close to losing him twice and I am absolutely terrified we are heading toward that road again. I am really, really lost and have no answers on when he'll get better, if ever.

I will say a prayer right now!!

Your poor hubby. I hope that everything starts to look up. Asthma sucks so bad, but mine is no where near that bad. Having the feeling that you can't take a breath is horrible. I feel for him and you!

You need to go raise holy hell.... DONT LET THEM treat him like any other asthma patient. and if that dr doesnt do what you need, find her boss and tell them, and get another dr. dont lose your husband because shes "too busy" to be a healer!!!

im sorry momma. its the best advice i have; make sure he gets what he needs, and make sure they explain to you everything thats going on, so you understand.

Well, he called a left a message with his lung specialist he usually sees. We're hoping the office nurse there will let Dr. Christensen know what's going on with him. Usually, he can get Richard better. He's always really concerned with his health and helping him get over this.

On top of that, Richard really really needs a new, better paying job. He works at a casino currently and the cigarette smoke is not even remotely healthy. I don't know what to do, though. He makes the better portion of our money there and he won't take a leave because he'll only bring home 70 to 80% of his wages and he says he can't do that during the holidays.

you need to tell him to quit. 70-80% of what hes making is more than what he would be making if he were dead. im sorry, i dont mean to be blunt, but you know what i mean?? and he is suffering if hes breathing that smoke. holidays with slightly less presents are better than holidays without a daddy.

i dont mean to be blunt and hurtful, but its the truth.....

Try telling him that.

He CAN'T just quit, though. The 70-80% of his wages is only for temporary disability...he can take FMLA and if it's medically necessary, he can apply for a program we have at work that will still give him a paycheck as long as he's going to be out for longer than 14 days.

I'm going to try talking him into taking a leave for awhile and then maybe apply for a different position, even if within the casino, where he can keep his wages and stay out of the smoke.

k, i will, show him this thread   i love he wants to take care of his family so much, but in order to take care of his family, hes got to BE here.....
