Vomiting

posted 17th Oct
My son is 2 and 1/2 months old. He has been vomiting at least once a day for a couple of weeks now. He is just fine after the fact. All smiley and giggley. The doctor told me that the reason he spits up so much is because he has reflux. But this isn't spit up this is projectile vomiting. What could this be? He has been having no fever or anything like that. He does seem to be teething though. I make sure he doesn't over eat and I even changed his formula to Similac Sensitive for gas and fuss.

I need your feed back.

It could be that he is eating too much, it happened to us all the time. Try cutting back his intake and see where that gets you. Feed him less, just more often.

My son had that for a while when he was a couple of months old and we had to change him to what they call 22 calorie(sp?) way. Which is instead of putting water in the bottle first and then the formula you FIRST put the formula and then the water. We tried that and he never projectiled again, and we just stayed like that until he was off the formula. Also cause I was so scared it would happen again. lol

I have tried that too. He is an extremely gassy baby. He will burp and I guess it just ALL comes right back up. Sometimes he does it without burping.

What is the difference of putting the formula first vs the water first. That sounds strange lol.

You might could even try putting a little bit of cereal in his formula... may help with the bubbles. Also the bottle you use could have a lot to do with it too, what kind of bottles do you use? We had the Avent ones for Abby.

Those are the ones that I use. And playtex vent air and Dr. Brown's. I bought alllll different kinds. I am going nuts with thisand it has only been 2 weeks of vomit but much longer for the spit up. Plus allll of his nipples seem to leak fast. I bought new ones for preeme so lets see if it helps.

Oh and the child has to be 4 months for cereal and you aren't supposed to put it in their bottle.

putting the water first your getting the "actual" amount like evenly water and formula.

Formula first your getting more formula than you are water I tried it once I put the formula and then the water and watched it "settle" and you get like an ounce or 2 less, but thats because its thicker. He's still getting the same amount of formula it's not as watery i guess. Sorry if I didn't explain it to well, its just what my doctor told me to try and it helped my LO so we stuck with it.

Your welcome momma! It definatly wont hurt to try, it will either help him or he will just stay the same and something else needs to be done. Good Luck! If you can let me know if it works out.

Actually Abby's doctor advised us to put it in her bottle. She got it right around 2 1/2 months. It won't hurt them. I have met a lot of doctors who will tell you the same thing.
