haha.. well ive seen like the steam cleaners on tv but i figured if you can sanitize the rest of the house with wipes or spray you have to be able to do the carpet too. and i have a 7month old daughter, and im a germaphob, so i hate that shes crawling around on the carpet that everyone walks on and then putting her hands in her mouth.

i would invest in a steamer, i don't think you can sanitize a carpet any other way

A little dirt wont hurt...one day she wont just be putting her fingers in her mouth haha. I always used a dust mite killer. It santized and killed dust mites all in one. Just spray it on, let it dry COMPLETELY, vacumme and repeat if desired. BUT i alwso did this in between carpet shampooing.Cleaning your carpet will only hurt the if you let her play on it while it's still wet. Once dry there should be no worries. I used diluted bleach for all his toys and bedding (like the crib and plastic pack n play) but you gotta watch cause it might ruin the stuff you're cleaning. Just spot test any easily unseen areas.

I wouldn't worry about it. Everyday germs are good for you and your daughter (to a degree). It will build up her immune system and she will get sick less once she starts school.

If you're dead-set on sanitizing, you can use a water/vinegar solution. Vinegar is a natural disinfectant. Just google "cleaning with vinegar." I use it all around my house, and no harmful chemicals. (and just in case you're curious, your house won't smell like vinaigrette when you're done, lol).

I think she's talking about "Arcosan." I got a couple bottles with the vacumm I bought. But I don't think they make it anymore. In any case, it's not a disinfectant, it's basically a pesicide for dust mites.

This isn't a dust mite killer but this also works great and is cheap.

I just used dust mite spray in case my LO had allergies like I do. Turns out he doesn't so I jus use any dust mite spray you can by at any store and just use it every once in a while.
