Gestational Diabetes

posted 14th Oct
So I took my blood test for diabetes last week and I'll know my results tomorrow. I hope I passed or whatever lol. But diabetes runs in my family so it makes me a little nervous. So how did everyone else's tests go? Mine wasn't so bad. They just gave me a fruit punch flavored drink that tasted like one of those kool aid jammer drinks they make for kids w/ no nutritional value lol.

I would kill to have a case of whatever drink they gave me. I LOVED it! So yummy. It was orange flavored.
Well a few days later I got the call I had failed the test though.
Went to take the 3hr and failed it as well
My mom has diabetes and it runs in my family as well so I dont know if that had anything to do with it.
It was kind of a good thing because I was eating too much junk anyway so it got me to eat healthier during my pregnancy. I missed the hell out of Mountain Dew and pizza though. The day I found out I had failed I ate a large pizza and a 2 liter of MD to myself, in less than 2 hrs. lol.
Anyways my LO was 8.5 lbs and that was even after going over 18 days.

Good luck to ya!

Diet Mountain Dew...you get used to it :-P lol

I failed mine with my two younger children and diabetes is only mild in my family. Still, it's not so bad. You just have to take better care of yourself and eat healthy. You get to the point where measuring your food is as simple as looking at it and knowing the serving size.

Hopefully you pass, OP, though, because it's not the most fun thing in the world.

ETA: Both of my GD babies were under 7 pounds :-)

Ugh I cant do the Diet MD.
I drank Coke Zero and still drink it now. I like it better than regular Coke or any kinda pop, except my good ol' MD!

Well I went to the doctors today and I failed by 3 points
So now I have to make an appointment to take the 3 hour test. The doctor thinks the numbers are just off and that there's most likely nothing wrong with me. So i'm gonna hope for that.

I LOVE Coke zero...it tastes like regular and was a serious lifesaver during my pregnancy with my daughter when I first found out I had GD.

Aww I hope they were wrong. They never even told me how much I failed by.

I have tried regular coke one time in over a year and a half only cause SO decided he wanted to get the regular
It was gross. I like that it's healthy but still has the caffeine I need!

That's what I like, too. Ever since my first round with GD I haven't been able to drink regular soda. And I pass right by the candy bar section as if it doesn't exist. My sweet tooth calmed down considerably.
