older sister's abortion...

posted 12th Oct
i know abortion is a very very touchy subject, however maybe someone can help me understand... Im 34 and a half weeks pregnant with my 1st child im 19 years old..i have an older sister who is 26 has one 5 yr old child and just had an abortion a few weeks ago well into her 2nd trimester. I am not on speaking terms with her anymore because of this. She has never worked a day in her life (NO JOKE)and does not take care of her son everyone else does it for her, she owns nothing and has no education past the 9th grade her only income is from the government. She knew she was pregnant when she was 8weeks but waited until 18weeks to start changing her mind on keeping it becasue everyone was upset with her. I dont know if im so pissed becasue i dont understand or what. i just think that there are families out there that would give anything to have a chid and adoption is their only way. i feel like she cheated that unborn child and a willing family at a bunch of happiness... i know im completly judging her for her decision and im not meaning to.. i suppose we all tend to judge what we dont understand right? or maybe im wrong for all this. i have no clue what i should do..
any advise ladies..?
or maybe just a thought..anything will help at this point.

It is not worth losing your relationship with your sister. Really, it is her life and shouldn't effect you. What's done is done, you can't change that. Either you forget about it and move on or live day to day pissed about it.

I don't agree with how late she got the abortion but based on what you said, it was probably best that she did. Sorry.

18 week abortion is not legal?????

You have every right to be mad at her. If she wanted to abort, she should have in the FIRST trimester. Once it reached the second, there should have been no turning back! She should have given that child up, instead she killed a baby that could have possibly made it outside the womb....

Adoption is not for everyone. And without knowing her based on what you said she may have felt pressured into it. She didn't want people to be upset with her anymore. Maybe she realized she couldn't do it!!! We don't know what she was thinking so you can't really judge her. I think you need to be a good sister and talk to her about it and try to understand her more!

Not in my state: can go up to 6 months for non medical reasons.... I heard of people going to my state to get a far along abortion.... all states are different

She has no job, no education, and is a burden on society, I would say she made the right decision.

Just out of curiosity what does it matter who went with her?

It is legal. I believe it's legal up until 24 weeks.

It is your sister and ultimately her decision on what she does with her body and life. I wouldn't turn my back on her if i were you.

For those wondering, in Florida there are abortion clinics that will do abortions legally up to 20 weeks.

oh I thought it was twice.... go there for induction and go back for the procedure. I didn't know it was a two part procedure? D&E, right?
Do you think your mom pushed it? That's why I asked who brought her. Open adoption wasn't a consideration?
