January Babies Development

posted 10th Oct '09
So, I've been flipping through some books about baby development, and some of the stuff made me....I wouldn't say worried, because I know every child is different, but it made me wonder if anybody elses babies Malakais age can do this stuff. Like, playing peek a boo, saying mama or dada, knowing what yes and no means, wave, clap, etc. I'm pretty sure he can't do any of that, except maybe say mama and dada, but I don't think he knows what they mean. They are just sounds to him.

So tell me if your guy's kids can do this stuff, or if your kids are older, when they started doing it. ALSO, do your kids scratch your face and smack you?? I thought it was normal and that he was just feeling my face, but now I don't know. The book I was reading said they love to pat your face and give you kisses, but malakai just likes to attack (with affection, I'm sure. lol)

I have a january baby... she waves, claps, and occasionally tries to give kisses. She says momma and dada, but like you said, they are just sounds, and i dont believe she's associated them with us yet.
She doesn't play peekaboo, but we never play it, so she has had no one to show it to her. She only learned to wave because we went to a parade recently, so there was about an hours worth of waving all around us..lol

She also will scratch at my face and pat my head. Not usually in a sweet way, but she doesnt know to be easy yet... and i'm sure its the same case for your lil one.

Do you practice any of these things with him? As you are aware, and i'm sure everyone will say.. babies develop at different rates...

I try to get him to say mama or dada all the time, but he just smiles at me. Lol. And no, I guess he hasn't seen much waving or clapping. We'll have to start practicing. Lol. Does your baby have temper tantrums now? Mine never used to but now, it's like he's grown so much emotionally, and he can be such a booger sometimes. If he wants something, he WANTS it. Lol.

Yeah, Harlee wont say mama and dada unless she's mad... and yes she will throw a fit!! Especially if she sees something she wants and can't have. She sees her big brother doing all kinds of stuff and it makes her mad that she can't do the same things..lol
