I would talk to your doctor and/or hospital about the costs and such and they may refer you to the billing people but some one should give you an amount you have to pay. For instance my insurance pays for most of it except there's a 20 dollar co-pay for doctors visits and ultrasounds, and then I have to pay like 590 for dilvery and everything which I have two options of payment plans, one to pay 100 dollars a month until it's paid before the baby is born, or two pay everything after the baby is born.

I would ask the insurance company what you have to pay exactly. I pay a co-pay of $200 and that covers all my prenatal visits, delivery and the baby for one month after birth.

My insurance covers 100% of the costs. I don't have to worry about paying anything out of pocket. I called my insurance to have them explained to me what exactly I was covered for....call your insurance company

It all really depends on your insurances contract with the hospital. Lets say the bill is $5000.00 and the contracted rate with the insurance is $2500.00 you pay 20% of the $2500.00 so $500.00. No one will be able to give you an exact amount as there could be complications that increase the bill or number of days you stay... But most insurance companys have contracts with the hospital so hopefully you wont pay too much.

My midwife charges $4000.00 prenatals and catching baby. Tests, ultrasounds etc are all extra.

usually your insurance company can tell you,They can send you a list of everything covered and a percentage of what you have to pay. i have 100% coverage due to hubby being in the military.

Not to be too pushy on this issue... I work at a hospital in the "collections" department we have many people call us and complain because their insurance company tells them something will cost X amount of dollars and then it ends up costing more. You can never say how much a delivery or any other hospital service will cost because of so many factors. Your insurance may be able to give you an estimate but in my experience, they do not know what they are talking about a lot of the time.

I was once told that there are ways to cut costs. Especially for a planned hospital stay. Can you speak to that? I know I have heard of bringing your own toothbrush, tylenol, shampoo, conditoner, pads etc. That way the person doesn't have to pay hospital prices for the same item.

My insurance also covers all but 20% of the cost and I think in total my part to pay is around a grand. Thats for delivery all the doctors appointments and the lab work.

I guess I lucked out in the insurance area. We've never had to pay a penny. We had tricare while my hubby was in the Marines. I did have my daughter at a civilian hospital, so I still recieved the bills. The total for her came to just under 5,000 for OB and hospital stay. But luckily Tricare picked up the tab!!

If you already have a child...wouldn't you think it would be the same amount as the one you have?
