Flying with Baby

posted 5th Oct
Has anyone ever traveled with their baby on a plane? I have the infant car seat that has a base and I'm not sure if you can use that on a plane. My daughter is almost one year old and I'm considering buying a newer car seat anyway. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

you can use the carseat w/ base, but one time I tried and didn't fit. That was a small plane though.

Usually I don't get the opportunity to even try the carseat bc I didn't buy him a ticket lol

I bought her a ticket. I'm afraid of it not fitting or them just denying me. I always get scared of being turned away at an airport and missing my flight! That would definitely suck.

I've flown with my son a few times. The Infant Carrier can fit, you don't need the base, just use the seat belt slots...or you can hold your child and check the carseat plane-side on the jetway...

Did you use the stroller that goes with the carseat or an umbrella stroller?

I didn't use a stroller just because we had so many bags that it wouldn't fit in the car...but on our same flight was another mother with her infant...she used the whole travel system and checked the carseat and stroller plane-side and just held her baby...after I saw how easily she was getting around the airport I was SOOOO jealous we didn't make the room to bring our stroller...lol

lol ummm.... all major airlines have different sizes of planes. i dunno, i'd say it'll most likely fit. if not, they'll just throw it under the plane and you'll have to hold her. either way, no worries, you won't be turned away or miss your flight!

Oh man, I would cancel the other ticket. You can gate check your carseat, that doesn't cost you extra. But if you are taking a stroller, you usually can only gate check one item. I would save the cash from the babys ticket.
The airline people aren't mean, you litterally have to say you have a bomb ON you to get turned away OR be stupidly drunk. People try and bring guns through security all the time and the airlines let those people fly.

I would really like to have the whole travel system with us for the vacation because It makes my life a lot easier. I use it everyday, and umbrella strollers have crappy wheels and no storage.

if its a travel system, they'll let you check both items. i've never had an issue with any airline that i've taken the travel system.
