Breastfed vs. Bottle fed babies question.

Do breastfed babies pee less then bottle fed babies?


I ask this because 5 days a week I only breastfeed. And the two other days he gets a formula (because I can't pump enough for him). And when I pick him up from the babysitter his diapers are significantly fuller then when I only breastfeed him.

I was just wondering if it should be the same...I don't want to under feed my baby. He is 9 months now but this was the case since I started back to work 5 months ago.

If they are drinking more out of the bottle, yes.

Typically... same amount of liquids no they would go the same....

I don't know, but does your babysitter change him as much as you do?

Maybe she is not changing him.....

So, you think my baby is being under fed while I am breastfeeding ? Or overfed when getting the bottle? I kind of dont think he is getting overfed from the bottle because the baby sitter says he only takes 6 oz or 8 oz in 7 hours.

Nah, I know that is not the case. She changes him 8-10 times in only 7 hours...she is his father's aunt and she always thinks he's wet.

There's more waste in formula.

A bf baby only needs to pee 6 times in 24 hrs to be fed "enough."

Well, maybe he isn't getting as much as you think he is when you are BF'ing him? Maybe she is giving him more?

I hope your answer is right! Everyone else seems to think they should pee the same amount. And my little guy is growing and gaining enough weight as well.

As long as he is gaining weight fine, I am sure he is doing fineon the boob.....

Well, when I was BF'ing and then I had to FF my daughter peed the same amount. So I guess I don't have the answer you want to hear.

She changes his diaper as often as I do. I can't tell when these darn things are wet or not...she changes his diaper as soon as there is a mushy feeling.

You are good...I wanted to hear all answers...I was just hoping the other lady was right...you know, I want him to get enough...

He's fine, dear. I promise. As long as he's not losing weight, he's being fed enough. When you're EBF, if he pees 6 times in 24 hours, he is eating more than enough.

Do you pump every 2-4 hours the days he gets formula?
