Question about VBAC

posted 2nd Oct
I have four kids and am pregnant with my fifth. The first three i had vaginally, the last one i just had 12/9/08. He was too big, so after hours of pushing i had to have him by caserean. This baby i am currently carrying is due 6/5/10. Is it possible for me to have a VBAC (vaginal birth after caserean), or do you think they will automatically suggest me to have a c-section because it is so soon inbetween my last c-section?
Thanks for all comments in advance ladies

I dont live in the states but I would say your chances are good because you have delivered naturally with all the others. You just need to find the right doctor. But how long between pregnancy exactly? Chances are down if its under 16 months. oh sorry just saw the dates..

It will depend on the doctor you choose. Such as if you were to go with a Birthing Center more midwives are pro VBAC than Ob/Gyn.

Depends on your doctor and if they are comfortable doing that. My OBGYN wont, she feels that once you have a cesarian that a vbac is to risky

I think that is so sad..the chances are 0,01 to rupture after 2 years...

Doctors are strange creatures...I think they like c sect. because it gets them more money..but thats just a thought.

i think they like a year at least between pregnancies, mind you i was a month along when my twins turned 1, but i still am allowed.
and your chances are better sinc eyou have already had children naturally before. (when i say naturally i mean vaginally)
if one doc tells you no, find one that will, and double check that your hospital even allows for vbacs. for mine i had to sign a paper stating i understood the risks involved and it was for both a repeat section and vbac, and as long as that was signed i could go ahead.
i had my twins 3/5/08 and am due 10/21/09. (i have 19 on my tracker because that was what the ultrasound said i was due..... so i am guesing between 19 and 21 will be my actaul day of delivery but we will see)

It suprised me after one of my friends had an emergency c section with my doctor. My doctor has to be the most amazing woman out there but she just wont do a vbac. It doesnt matter for me at this point b/c I already had a vaginal.

By time i have this baby, they will be exactly 18 months apart.

But i thought that a c-section is just as risky? People are telling me surgery can result in complication just as much auterine rupture. I don't know, i just wondered if they would let me try, and then if it didn't work out, then just go ahead with the c;section. My first c-section wasn't an emergency c, so i wonder if that will play into whether i can have it or not.

I live in columbus, ohio so i guess i will have to check different docs to see. The reason i had to have the c in the first place with my last one was because he was too big. So i would think that should play into whether i can have this one vaginally. If its a small baby, wouldn't that reduce the risk of uterine rupture?

on the paper i had to sign it actaly said "i understand that a repeat c-section i more risky than a Vbac"
dead serius.

it might hinder your chances of finding a doc who would be willing. examples of why they would do repeats is in case the child couldn't fit. for whatever reason. was there a reason why the child was so large? or was your pelvis too small? thats the biggest one right there. the pelvis is to small

Well my biggest baby before my last weighed 7lbs 12 oz. She just barely fit, they had to use forceps. This last one was 8lbs 7 oz, and after 2 1/2 hours of pushing, he was just stuck and not coming out. So i would say that he was just too big to fit through my pelvis.
