Guns allowed in AZ bars

posted 29th Sep
Ok so apparently they are going to start allowing those with permits to start bringing guns into bars. Those with the guns cannot drink. Now I do support legal gun carriers but even to me this law makes no sense. Drunk people and firearms and crowded bars do NOT mix. period. I seriously doubt somebody going to a bar with a gun is going to stay sober, otherwise, why be at the bar in the first place?

What are your thoughts on this?

And it won't let me post the link, if you want to see it just go to foxnews.com

There are a lot of bars that still wont allow firearms, they have signs up in their windows.

But I am on the fence about it, its like, if you are just going in to eat, why cant you leave your gun in your car, but then again, I dont see the problem with them bringing it in because in order for them to be allowed, they must have a permit and you have to go through major testing to get one.

I dont know...

But I think guns are a bad idea, period. So many disagree with that though, so oh well.

I wouldn't mind it in a restaurant. Its a controlled atmosphere. A bar, absolutley not. I went to grahms the other night and it was just chaotic drunkness. There were a couple fights that had broken out as well, now add a firearm to that situation, and it ends up deadly.

I agree. A bar is a horrible idea to let firearms in...

Could make some bad bar fights, now really how are you going to assure nobody gets drunk and kills someone. Just does not sound like a good idea to me.

I love guns. I feel safer when I see somebody carrying in a store b/c I know if that store gets robbed, that criminal will be shot possibly saving lives of the innocent customers.

Add alcohol to it though, and I just see danger. I would leave the bar if I saw somebody drinking and carrying a weapon.

Maybe AZ is trying to get back to the "wild west" mode, lol.

yeah but the situation wouldn't be nearly as dangerous if the criminal did not have a gun either. sure, they could have a knife and people could still be hurt, but even with a 'good guy' having the gun, accidents happen and innocent people could be shot. too many bad guys to have a positive outcome from giving good guys guns. maybe if there were more regulation but it seems too easy for guns to be readily available.

Hnad guns are a pain in the ass to get. Any more regulations and we'd be living in Japan.

If somebody comes in trying to rob a store, and putting innocent people's lives at risks, they need to be stopped. If that involves shooting them in the leg, I could care less. I have no sympathy for those out to break the law and to harm people.

many crimes, including school shootings, have been ended before innocent people got hurt b/c law abiding safe citizens have been allowed to carry a gun. You take away guns you are not ending criminal access to them, you are ending a citizens right to protect themselves and their families.

I see it this way... Bad guys are always going to get guns. No matter how hard you make it to get guns, since they get them illegally anyway. I'd much prefer myself, my husband, or another "good guy" to have a gun when coming in contact with a bad guy with a gun... Than to not. My husband has his permit and he carries concealed around. I'll get one too when the time comes. the majority people that have guns legally aren't going to use them to break the law.  Although regarding the OP if alcohol is involved I'd be extremely iffy on the situation. I wouldn't allow my own husband to carry a gun drunk. Or myself even, not that I don't trust myself or him but bars and guns don't seem like the best combo.

Me and my husband were just talking about this the other day, how guns should be allowed in schools, meaning colleges of course. Providing that the carrier of the gun has obtained a permit to carry the gun. Because the asshole that tries to shoot up the school probably doesn't have a permit for the gun not to mention, one might think twice knowing that other students would intervene if he should try such a thing. I think that people that try and shoot up schools do it there because they know it's the most vulnerable spot, no one can really fight back. JMO though

I totally agree. I agree with guns in all schools though. In a safe, locked in the principals office, where only members with permits are allowed to access it. So many lives of students could have been saved if that had happened.

I think the same goes for places that have a large gun community (not sure if that would be consider the correct term but it sounds good, or pretend it does at least) People are less likely to break into someone's house if they know there is a great possibility that there will be someone shooting them in the face with a shotgun as soon as they enter.
