threatening a 5 year old??

So my friends 5 year old son came home from school today andtold her that another childs mother told him she was going to gouge his eyes out. this boy is a very sweet, passive child. When his mom asked him why she would say that and if he had done something mean to the little girl for her mom to say something like that he said "no i dont do that to school peoples". Regardless of if he had done something or not (which, its safe to say he didn't), what would the appropriate reaction be on moms part? he teacher was emailed and her responce to the matter was "imsure it was a misunderstanding". Are there protective laws for children being threatened on school grounds, by a parent none the less?!any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.

If i was your friend i would find out who said that to my son and have some words with her. You dont say something like that to a little kid if he had done something then she should have just talked to his mom.

Um, honestly? I'd ignore it. The woman is obviously out of her mind. If you piss her off, she might actually hurt someone. Unless something similar happens again, I would let it go.
