too many toys

posted 29th Sep
Bradley is going to be 2 in Novemeber and he has soo many toys, stuffed animals etc. I was thinking about packing away some of his 'baby toys' and stuffed animals he doesnt play with that much, so I can make room for the new stuff. Anyone else do this? and is it a good idea?

Yeah....it gets overwhelming when there are sooo many toys LOL! I donate alot of toys to the thrift stores or goodwill. You can even try to sell them to once upon a child, or have a garage sale. The possibilities are endless lol!

Absolutely a good idea. I do it around Christmas every year to make room for new toys. Could you imagine being 6 and never recycling toys lol

I go through my kids toy box at least once a year and get rid of anything that they dont really play with. They get a little upset if they see me doing it and try to pull some stuff out but honestly within 2 days they dont even remember. With all the stuff they get for holidays and birthdays and just because their so darn cute days it adds up. He's still tiny so I would try and do it with him not around.

That's when we do it. I have my kids help pick out things to donate, they feel good about doing it andit takes the sting out of getting rid of their toys

It's a great idea! If you are going to get rid of stuff, do it when he's not around to see you (like when he's in bed) so he won't get upset. Also, I know someone who has 2 little boys and when Christmas or birthdays come around and they get a ton of toys, what they do is let them open the ones they immediately love then put away the others and bring them out one by one through the year when they need something new to play with. Saves you needing to buy new stuff for them when they are bored with what they have!

Exactly what I do. I completely organize it and tell Paige that we are giving them to kids that really need it. She gets all excited knowing that she is helping other children and that she is making room for Santa to bring more toys.

Haha I do that too, but not all year round.

I let her open 1 or 2 she wants to that day, then when she is done she finds a place, and the next day she opens 1 or 2 until they are all gone. Saves me the time and energy of opening all the presents at once and putting them away.

I am actually putting them away to save so I when I have another child I dont have to go and buy new ones. But as he gets olderI will teach him how to donate. I saved his clothes up until 12 months so I wont have to buy all new clothes for a new baby also. If I didnt have my friends giving me hand me downs for Bradley I dont know how much money I would have had to spend!!
