I need a dessert recipe

posted 25th Sep
Ok, I know this is early for Christmas but my grandma called earlier this week and wants everyone in the family to bring a hot dish and a dessert or a salad. We are bringing mini meatballs and a dessert. I need a good dessert recipe. I keep searching but nothing is jumping out at me.

So ladies what is your favorite Christmas dessert? (doesn't have to be just for Christmas either.)

pumpkin icecream pie. Easy and a crowd pleaser.

OR cinnamon rolls

ETA: For the pie you take a carton of vanilla icecream and a can of pumkin and 2 tspns pumpkin pie spice mix it all together and put it in a graham cracker crust. Then back in the freezer for a while. Super easy

This cobbler is AWESOME.

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 (16 ounce) can sliced peaches in heavy syrup
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, or to taste
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg, or to taste
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat an oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Put the butter in an 8x8 inch baking dish and place in the oven to melt while you prepare the remaining ingredients.
  2. Bring the peaches with syrup and 2 tablespoons of sugar to a boil in a saucepan. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 10 minutes; set aside. Whisk together the flour, 1 cup sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl. Stir in the milk until the mixture is just moistened. Pour into the hot baking dish over the butter. Spoon the peach slices and most of the syrup over the batter.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Sprinkle with the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar. Return to the oven and bake until the top is golden brown, 30 to 45 minutes longer.

My grandma makes all those "salads"...I don't get why they are called that, but they are yummy. Except I don't like marshmallows and hers are mostly marshmallows

I always love to do fruit salad (big container of cool whip and a can of fruit coctail) and then I usually make fudge and a pecan pie. I am the desert maker in my family. I do all kinds of deserts and plan months in advance...i like to experiment.

Cherry dump cake:

CHERRY DUMP CAKE

1 lg. can crushed pineapple
1 can cherry pie filling
1 pkg. yellow cake mix
1 (3 1/2 oz.) can flaked coconut
1 c. pecans, chopped
2 sticks butter, melted
Dump pineapple, including juice, into a 9 x 13 inch pan. Spread evenly. Spread the cherry pie filling over the pineapple. Spread DRY cake mix evenly over all. Then sprinkle coconut and nuts over that. Pour melted butter over all. Bake 1 hour in 325 degree oven. Serve with whipped cream.

You can leave out the coconut and/or the pecans. Still is WONDERFUL and everyone always loves it!

Okay.   here ya go:

Snicker Salad:
6 granny smith apples
2 tubs of coolwhip
2 packets vanilla pudding mix -- not prepared. just the dry powder.
6 snicker bars.

cut up the snickers and the apples into bite size peices. mix them with the coolwhip and vanilla pudding mix.

Cookie Salad:
One package fudge striped cookies
2 tubs of coolwhip
3-4 cans of mandarin oranges
2 packets vanilla pudding mix -- not prepared, just the dry mix.

crush the cookies into bite size peices. mix them with the coolwhip, pudding mix and mandarin oranges.

Better than sex cake:
1 box mix ofDevil's food cake
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 jar caramel ice-cream topping
1 tub coolwhip
2-3 heath bars.

Bake the cake according to the box directions. Poke several holes in the cakewith theend of a wooden spoon, while the cake is still warm. Pour the sweetened condensed milk and caramel topping over the cake, while it's still warm. Let cool. Top with the coolwhip. Crush the heath bars and sprinkle over the top.

All of them are pretty easy. And all of them need to be kept refridgerated until you serve them for obvious reasons. lol. Enjoy, they ALL are awesome.
