depo provera

posted 21st Sep
I have a question about the depo shot...I know that most women experience bleeding during the first three months with their first injection but I'm kind of paranoid because I'm not bleeding at all and I feel like I probably should be...which brings me to my next paranoid question...I looked up online that Depo Provera was effective immediately if it was administered during the first five days of a woman's cycle. Is this true; cause if it's not I'm in some trouble...

I never bled after getting it. even after stopping it, it took a full year to have any bleeding at all. I hate it though. I'll never get it again!

They made me get my first one when I was on my AF, and after that, I didn't have a period for something like 6 years (I was on it that long). Sounds like you're fine, but if you're worried, it never hurts to check. I'm not totally sure about the immediate effectiveness, but I've always heard to use a backup for the first few weeks with almost every form of b/c.

i love depo.

everyones body reacts differently to it.

i've been on it twice, and the 1st time i didnt bleed AT ALL. not at all.

the second time i bled for like.... 2 weeks.... and then since then, light spotting everyonce in a great while.

test if your worried tho.

Honestly...there's nothing more I want in the world right now than a baby...but after three losses in 9 months I'm not ready to take the chance again...another thing I'm worried about is that if I am pregnant then won't the birth control hormones in my body hurt the baby? Especially because its a three month dose...is there like a reversal shot or an antidote for the shot if I am?

Birth control does not terminate exisiting pregnancies.

Yes, there is some chance that the hormones could hurt a baby if there is one. On the same hand, I've met a few people who have gotten pregnant while on depo that have had perfectly healthy babies. There's no reversal that I've ever heard of. It has to get metabolized, which can take a good long while.

I'm just being super paranoid...I just wouldn't want anyting to happen to my baby even if it's nonexistent lol
