Okay I am from Hawaii and I am obsessed with pineapple! I eat A LOT of it and nothing has been wrong with my baby so far. How would the acidic nature of the fruit eat the water for the baby? That is just sounding weird... Since it doesn't directly go to the baby. You have to digest it first.

I thought about it for a bit and thought I would look it up. So I supose fresh pineapple is bad for you because it has something in it that softens your cervix. So I guess eat all the canned pineapple you want, but not the fresh?

I have never heard of that, and always eat a ton of pineapple.

Its an old wives tale pretty much. If you are only a couple weeks pregnant and eat about 6 unripe pineapples, it suposedly can cause a miscarriage, but mean while your mouth will be totally raw.....I think you would be in tears before you could eat enough pineapple to have that happen! Plus after the first few weeks that is supose to no longer be true.
I've eaten a fairly large amount of pineapple earlier in my pregnancy (they where 2 for $5 and smelled really good!) and it didnt do any thing to me or the baby. Pineapple does have a lot of acid and enzymes in it (which is part of why jello will not set with pineapple in it) but I don't see how it could readily affect the membranes since they are not near your digestive tract. I would say its fine, plus fruit is a great thing to snack on while pregnant!

Fresh Pineapple as well as Castor Oil and Sex (only if your husband enjaculates in you because Semen contains natural prostaglandin's which can help ripen your cervix) can induce your labor ...you can read about it in Google under Natural Labor Inducers.

I'm pretty sure pineapple won't hurt your baby at all.....take it from me: During my first pregnancy I CRAVED fresh pineapple like crazy and ate 2 whole pineapples in ONE weeks when I was like 13 weeks along! My little girl was perfectly healthy and was born at 39 weeks! Now I'm expecting baby #2 and I'm craving pinepple again! Go for it!

I really don't think that's true, I haven't heard that yet. I eat a can of pineapple pretty much everyday! Either pineapple or peaches.

All of that is an old wives tale. If acidic food was a no-no then so would tomatoes, orange, orange juice, italian dressings.... so forth and so on.
And UNFORTUNATELY castor oil and sex won't enduce birth either. Trust me, I knew a gal that almost died convinced that she was going to enduce labor herself at home and her baby was (dang I can't remember the word!) Anyway, he was butt down in the birth canal and she never did go into actual labor, she had to have an emergency c-section. It was very scarey.
I personally tried having sex all the time when my daughter was late and eating all kinds of things (not castor oil! ewwww!) and the rubbing the nipples thing. I had to have her medically enduced 2 weeks late.

It seems to me that there are two sides to everything when it comes to pregnancy!! I cannot see why there would be anything wrong with eating pineapple. I also think that you should eat what you feel is right for you.

Everything in moderation* I love pineapple, and I think snacking on fruit versus junk food is always better. As far as the castor oil and sex to induce pregnancy- I am one more person nothing worked for. I was over two weeks late when they finally induced me, and I will never wait that long again!
