I think most babies would be annoyed by that thing. They make a monitor called Angel Care that goes under the crib mattress that sounds a very loud alarm if no movement is detected for 20 seconds. Though I just read the other day that SIDS is pretty much instant and that by the time any apnea monitor goes off the baby has already passed.

I have a very similar thing, only it's a respirisense buzz, it looks like a tiny pager that fits on their diaper. It doesn't annoy them at all. Although I nearly have a heart attack every time it goes off!

The angel care can only be used in a crib or other hard sleep surface. Mobile monitors can be used in the carseat, bouncy seat, for co-sleeping, or where ever else you go.

My friend had a monitor and her baby still passed away from SIDS. It's a very quick thing, hence the SUDDEN infant symdrome. It's soo sad.

But I hope you all enjoy your monitors anyways!
Sorry to be a buzz kill. lol

I need to say...this would be great for babies with sleep apnea or some such disorder.

Babies who die from SIDS though cannot be resuscitated no matter how quick you are...they have even died in the hospital....in mom's or dad's arms....there just is no way to prevent REAL sids.

definitely sad but true.. My friend that lost her littleboy to sids a couple of months ago walked in and checked on him he was fine.. went back to the kitchen to finish dinner and her husband walked in their room to get something and looked at the baby and his lips were blue. It was only a matter of a few minutes. They tried to resusitate him and he was gone.
And all the stuff they say about pacis and fans and no bumpers helping to prevent it I find hard to believe. She did all three things with him. He has no bumpers or blankets, loved his paci and had a ceiling fan going on low and she still lost her baby.

I'm so sorry.
SIDS is pretty much the hardest thing....because they CAN"T tell you how to stop it....and can't really give you a reason WHY either.

I know sids makes me paranoid.. The same month my friend lost her little boy a lady that works with my mom lost her 6 month old little girl to sids. It just blows my mind. I wish they could find out more about it and find ways to truly prevent it.

Ugh i'm such a paranoid mama. This thread sucks lol. We got theAngelCare monitor because i'm so used to the ones in NICU i couldn't handle having nothing at home, guess it's abit pointless though!
