People hate our girl name!

What do you think of when you see this name, and how would you pronounce it? I am in love with it, but people keep giving me a hard time about it, and i am beginning to wonder if I am missing something. Is it a horribl name?

There's nothing strange about the name I'm just not fond of it.

First pronunciation that came to mind was Amelia, then I thought it could be pronounced Emma Leah. Idk, it's not a horrible name. It's pretty, but she might have to be constantly telling people how to pronounce it.

We intened for it to be pronounced like Amelia, we just spelled it with an E because my husband is Mexican and that seems to be the spelling. I am seriously starting to reconsider though.

I really like that name. It's a good southern name!!! Very pretty.

I think the A is more feminine on that name. Cause with the E it makes me think of Emilio, like Emilio Estevez.

I like it, but I am a little biased, since my name is Emilia Anna! Most peple say that they love my name.It is pronaunced like the american Amelia.
The name is actually italian and/or spanish.

Ok, well if it's supposed to be pronounced Amelia... then she probably wont have to explain how to pronounce it.

i thought amelia..if youre in love wit it keep it..its hard finding a name that youre in love with..forget about people..i have a hard time with my name its kiata [key-ah-da] like the car miata but with a k but ppl butcher it all the time but id radther stand out then have a common name && someone says my name && im like which one??

its not their child shes yours ppl are gonna always have something to say && ppl constantly talk its life..let her be different while youre in love..besides will these ppl be part of your life forever hmm but your child is so you dont wanna be calling her just a name

I would put it this way....

You made her, you are carrying her for 9 months, and you are giving birth to her...

Who cares what people think about your name that you picked out...

I think it is pretty!!

People STILL give me a hard time about the name that we have picked out for our baby boy...Bryce...it is amazing how rude people can be!!

In the end though....it is a decision that should be made by the mom and dad!!

I think it's a beautiful name then again I'm an Emily Ann lol. If you like the name to heck with what people think. If you change it on account of what others think you'll never be happy with the name you pick.

i think its a beautiful name, people keep giving me a hard time too where naming my boy Axle so i get knocked on a lot for that name but a well i think as long as you like it thats what matters its your baby

since i'm from holland everybody expects me te get al real dutch name...
but i like the englich language...it sounds prettier...

so i was going for faith or jamey....

everybody is giving comment but i'm still going to call my sweetheart by one of those names....

i think emilia ann is just a beautiful name...but it can only be beautiful if you've chosen it with your haert....

I like the name Amelia.

My personal opinion/suggestion however would be this...

I know I have to spell my last name to everyone, even though it's pretty simple.
I could not imagine ALWAYS having to spell my first name to everyone.
I would think it would be annoying.

When we named our son 10 years ago I was going to spell Austin,... Austen (with an e rather than the I) then I got to thinking about him always having to spell the name.

My other opinion about naming your baby is this...

everyone has an opinion. even when it's not good.
People also need to learn to keep their rude opinions to themselves, and if they want to name a baby they should go have one!
I am so tired of hearing... ex. you can't name your baby Dominic... I knew a dominic in school and couldn't stand him, or I remember a ben in my class, PLEASE don't name your baby ben.

My DH and I have a friend who did not reveal any baby names until she was actually born and her name was what it was.
I think people are less apt to say YUCK, if you've already named your baby that.

And when it really comes down to it, do we really need everyones opinion on what to name our kids... they are our children it is OUR major decision.

I think Emelia Ann is a beautiful name, if YOU are happy with it and LOVE the name, ignore everyone else.
