The nurses in the NICU told me to keep with their schedule they had her on(every 3 hours) and to wait for the Pedis approval to let her sleep and wake when shes hungry on her own. She got out of the hospital at 2 weeks, 2 days later she went to the Pedi and got the okay. After that she still had the same schedule for a few more weeks, now she sleeps through the night at 3months(since 2 months  ) So I'd just call tomorrow and ask. Her schedule for eating every 3 hours might get out of whack but it takes a while to get babies on a real good schedule.

I was told to wake up my daughter, who was not a preemie but born at 37 weeks, five pounds eleven oz, every 2 hours min, until she was over six pounds.

With the twins, I had to wake them and work really hard to get them to eat, at least every four hours...Different doctors, different feelings about it, I guess. I know that when they slept for four hours it was seen as a bad thing, not a good one, because it showed that they were still not acting like "normal" newborns, but sleepy preemies.

My son was a preemie, and I was told to wake him up to eat. He was 5 lbs at birth. I would talk with your pedi.

I was told not to let my preemie go longer than 4 hours during the day and 5 hours at night, but he woke up like clockwork every3 hours   And ur lucky ur little one sleeping thru the night so early. Mine didn't start until he was 16 1/2 months old lol. And I think that was b/c he started daycare and it was whipping his tail at first so he was so exhausted he slept good.

My docs said to wake Paige to feed her if she went longer than 4 hours. Of course she was only 5 lbs when she went home from the NICU (she was a 27 weeker and was in the NICU for 2 months). He also told us that babies usually have enough "reserves" to sleep through the night once they get around 10 lbs.

Our pedi told us that if Graycie would sleep through the night, let her! He just said not to let her go longer than 6 hours.
