Help please.. :(

I have been sitting here for a few days trying to figure out how to ask questions and what questions to ask. On Tuesday I went in for an ultrasound, and I was told that there is no amniotic fluid. I can't even begin to describe what I've been going through since then.
The attending doctor (not my prenatal doc) told me if it had been a week earlier he would have advised a termination of my pregnancy. He also went on trying to tell me other states that allow termination after 20 weeks. I was not clear headed after hearing the news or I'd probably be in jail for the way he was speaking to me.
When the report went to my doctor the next day she met with me for a few minutes. She did not give me any clearly good news or clearly bad news. I guess tat's the way it should be. I just do not know what to do now. I cannot find any info on if the fluid will replenish or what the chances of survival are for my baby. My heart is breaking and I'm in a position where I can do nothing but wait and see. My doctor has ordered another ultrasound for 24 weeks. She said at that time if there is still no fluid or too little fluid we will have to consider a very early ultrasound (between 24 to 28 weeks).
I was just hoping someone on here could help by giving some answers or sharing a similar story. I can usually find info easily except for now when I need it the most. Any info would help so much.. I just want to be well prepared.

Here is some info I found on it for you. My hope and prayers are with you!
In some pregnancies, however, there may be too little or too much amniotic fluid. These conditions are referred to as oligohydramnios and polyhydramnios, respectively. Both can sometimes cause problems for mother and baby or be a sign of other problems. However, in the majority of cases, the baby is born healthy. Here’s what expectant parents should know about these disorders.
There is a lot more info on the website:

My mother had my brother with no fluid... When she went in for the amniocentices or however it is spelled... they broke the sac... He is happy and healthy and 25 years old now! I'm not sure how far the child has to be in order to be completely without harm but honestly I want you to know that there is hope! Best wishes... I'll send you all my prayers and love!

Thank you for all of the replies. I appreciate it and I will keep all of this in mind. I think what makes this harder is the fact that I have had 3 normal pregnancies and the only "complication" was with my first. I was 16 and he was 10 lbs 12 1/2 oz. I just feel lost right now and I am trying not to stress too much, but that is easier said than done especially when it comes to the life of your own child.

(( )) You might decide to go to the ER just to reassure yourself and or to get a second opinon. I KNOW I would. I will be praying.

I don't have any experience with this but a coworker of mine was told she had very little amniotic fluid left and that the baby was only 3 lbs this was when she was eight months along. They induced her a few weeks later and ended up delivering a healthy boy who was almost six pounds. Don't give up hope yet go to your appointments and take care of yourself. Thats all you can do the rest is in God's hands. Good luck.
