posted 14th Sep
My baby is three days old and will literally sleep 6 hrs if I let her which I dont,I try to atleast get her to wake up and eat every four hrs,but she will not stay awake! I'm so worried her blood sugar is gonna drop, today(more like yesterday) she only had 3 wet diapers and 2 dirty, Im so worried she might have jaundice cuz I know jaundice babies sleep alot and today her eyes looked a little yellow as is her skin sometimes,we go to the pedi. for the first time tomarro, but I feel like a horrible mother, like I'm starving my baby!!  how can I get her awake and stay that way?

My son was the same way. We had to strip him down and bother his feet, make loud noises, etc... to get him awake and keep him awake. It was a pain in the ass but he needed it.

Skyler was that way when she was jaundiced. Strip her down and do skin-to-skin when you feed her. It'll at least help her intake, if not keep her awake longer. We would also tickle her feet or her face to keep her awake.

Bella did the same thing. I would just wet a rag and rub it on her foot while feeding her. It wasn't too cold but it was wet and it would wake her up a bit more.

It usually takes a couple of days to show. It's basically bruising caused by being born. Skyler's didn't show until she was about 4 or 5 days old. When you take your LO in, the doctor should be able to tell you if it's severe enough to warrant phototherapy. We did the blue spectrum phototherapy with Skyler, and her jaundice went away within a couple of days. HARD days for us. But she had it made, lazing under the light all day:

Yes. I've seen doctors tell mothers you have to formula feed to get ride of jaundice but it's a load of crap. My son didn't get jaundice until he was a week old. I nursed him and kept him near a sunny window and it cleared up right away.

My son had very bad jaundice, he was bordering on a blood transfusion, one more number up and he would have. He got it like 2 days after he was born, if you suspect it go to the doctors, my son was in the NICU for almost 2 weeks trying to beat it. He almost died. It's not always so mild.

My son didn't eat much either, but my doctor told me not to wake him to feed him, he will wake up on his own, and he did.
And that amount of nappys is fine.
