Stripped membranes..

I know this might sound a bit stupid, but i was just wondering what it meant to have your membranes stripped. My doctor said he is going to do it next thursday and he didnt really explain what it was.

Hi Last year with my son my doctor stripped my membrane and like 30 minutes later i had a bloody discharge which was my muscus plug and then 10:00 that night i was in labor. you have a possible chance with labor 2 days after the membrane is stripped. But my doctor didnt even tell me he was gonna do it. You also dont feel anything but as soon as he did it like 30 min later i was contacting lightly.
