No, all preemies do not get this. I've never even heard of this, and my mom works with preemies for a living. This child must be getting disability for some other condition, not because she was born premature.

to my knowledge she never had any kind of condition, she did have a few operations on her eyes when she was younger but that was about it.

We get it! itscalled SSI and in order to get it your preemie had to weigh less then 2 lbs 10 oz i beleive. But its not just something they send to you, you have to apply for it. And its not necessarily for the rest of there life i think at 5 years old if the baby is having problems still they can get it.

Every state has it's own rules. My daughter was 20 grams over the limit - which is no big deal, she doesn't have any disabilities that would require the money. My nephew got it and may still get it, he's 5. Its to help cover the medical expenses of a special needs child. When your child no longer has special needs, you no longer get a check. At least, that's how its supposed to work.

We were told the baby has to be under 2 lbs 10 oz and only gets it up to age 1 unless there is reason to believe the baby has a disability. Theysaid our son was 3lbs 11 0z at birth but since he was 28 weeks and the next day he weighed 2 lbs 5 oz, so we think he was really 2 lbs 11 oz, but that would still be an oz over, it sucks bc we lost so much money bc our son was 2 1/2 hours away from us.

We get it.It is forbabies with low birth weight.Bella was 2 lbs 9 ounces at birth and got down to 2 lbs 4 ounces. We get $500 a month but they don't neccesarily get it for the rest of their lifes. At least here they get re-evaluated at 1 year and if they don't have any special needs and have caught up to where they need to be then they don't get it anymore.
