Black churches vs. white churches
Black churches vs. white churches
posted 9th Sep
Ok so I remember when I was younger, the few 'white' Catholic church services I was a part of were kind of dry, long-winded, and just generally boring.
On the other hand, I went to a lot of services with my black family members and at one time, went with my friend's family (they were black) and the service was upbeat, joyous, and just generally full of life.
Am I being biased or have you guys felt this way as well, depending on the church you went to (e.g. Baptist vs. Protestant, or something)?

Is it bad that I thought you were talking about the actual color of the church?

I am Baptist and everytime I say that people say, "Oh you go to the black church, huh?!"

I do agree with you black churches seem more upbeat but the church i go to now is a mix of races and its just as upbeat as black church. (They have a band and even the band isa mix of races) I think it depends on the church.

I've definitely noticed that black people are more zealous, and their services are more uplifting. They're less judgmental, too. That could just be my experience, though. I don't know if it's true for all.

I've always gone to a church that had all kinds of races I know some churches believe more singing is a way of worshipping rather then consistent praying and preaching.

i cant really see old white people getting into it.
i think its because black people seem to love music, and beats, and dancing.

The last church I went to was mostly blacks and I loved it. They actually hugged instead of shaking hands, danced, sung! My son had a blast every Sunday jumping around!

I went to a "white" church, if you mean the majority was white, and they were like that. Not boring at all.

Before I read the topic, when I went to click on it. I looked at the title and thought to myself "why does the color of the church matter?"

It depends solely on the church.
You cannot judge all "white" churches by the fact that the ONE you went to, which was a Catholic church, so is different just by that aspect, was boring.
You also cannot expect all "black" churches to be like the one you are used to.
My church has people of all races, ethnicities, and backgrounds. However, we are predominantly (I guess if you counted us, more would be) caucasian. We have joyful, wonderful, exciting services!

We went to "black churches" when we were little. We were kind of raised by a black family for 6 years. They were SOOOOO much fun! I loved it
