if i have to cook them inside i use my foreman grill. i have also used my broiler in my oven. that usually does an ok job for me. you have to keep a close eye on them though, or you really will catch your house on fire!

You should def cear it on the stovetop first.
In a dry pan in a screaming hot pan.
They key is DON'T TOUCH IT once you slap it down.
Leave it there for (depending on the cut if meat) about 4 minutes per side.

Finish it up in your oven, under the broiler but watch it!
If you can't watch closely put it in the oven.

Let it rest when it comes out to re-distribute the juices.

Just cook them in a frying pan. Depends how you like your steak - but 6-10 minutes on each side.

It's easy to overcook it, yeah, you just have to watch it. I like mine rare & I do 5-7 minutes on each side & I never overcook it. It also depends on the quality of the meat, if it's lower quality, it'll be easier to mess up.

stick a cast iron skillet into the oven at the highest your oven will allow. then, very carefully take the skillet out of the oven and onto a burner that has been set to high heat. immediately put your steaks(seasoned however you want) into the skillet. sear each steak for 3-4 minutes on each side. usually the skillet only stays hot enough for one batch though. should cook steaks to medium-well. adjust cooking time for your steak preference.

hope i could help. good luck!
