next month i'll be traveling to hawaii to live there. im pretty excited. but im real scared because its a 12 hour plane ride. i have a one year old and i have no idea how im going to even keep her still or without crying.
anyone have any ideas or traveled that far with a one year old. ?

Couldn't you break the flight up into a few?! That's a super long flight for an adult let alone a 1 year old not to mention there would probably be a lot of annoyed people on the plane that you wouldn't want to deal with!

I'll be traveling yet again with all five kiddos from here to Cleveland, two plane trips and a four hour layover  A lot of finger foods, and you CAN walk around the cabin as much as you want, except when the food trays are being handed out.

AS SOON AS YOU CHECK IN, ask for the bulkhead seats!!!! They aren't assigned until check in time and since you have the little one they should give it to you. That will give you enough room to let her sit and play on the floor in front of you and if she wants to nap, they will give you a little cradle for her! I can show you pics if you want from our last flight. It really really helps a lot!!

yeah, i know. i dont want people staring at me giving me dirty looks. im going to ask my uncle about that.. maybe he'll get one that stops. my one year old is super curious & cant stay still. i KNOW i cant deal with her 12 hr sitting down

is your flight at night or during the day?

Chances are she'll sleep for some of it, just bring a pacifier for landing and taking off.

And don't worry about annoying people, thats the risk they take and most people have been there flying with a kid.

Do you have any clue how long it would take to get from point A to point B if she had to get off and recheck in, then get off and recheck in toting around a one year old?! Not to mention the walking between airport checkpoints, different terminals if needed. I could go on and on I've traveled enough with kids to know.

Did you buy her her own seat? That is the only way my LO will stay quiet for any amount of time. I can not fly any length anymore without buying her a seat. My 17 month old(at the time) slept the first 2.5 hours of each of our flights and then was awake playing or watching a dvd the rest of the time.

omg thats crazy . how many hours is that. and i never knew you could ask for bulk seatsss. im definetly doing that. im soooo scared of taking that trip. hes been offered this trip for months but i've always held back. now im takin the chance.

I didn't mean in one day, I wouldn't ever go that far with a 1 year old but that's just me....

Snacks!!!! Her favorite toy. Maybe a few books to read.

Also, do you have a mini dvd player? You could bring a few movies for her to watch.

hats true when i went to florida i had a stop in gerorgia she was way to heavy & so was the luggage

Direct flights are the best.
